This photo shows just one of 2 five gallon pails of my Haralred Apples this year. I babysat my Granddaughter, Enmma, Saturday and she and I picked all the Haralreds from the tree. I got maybe 100 or so inm total from the tree. Not a lot of worm damage this year. But these are used for cooking/baking, so the damage was cut out anyhow. There were still a lot of good eating apples as well. I still have the Honeycrisp to pick yet. That will be soon as I have so many to bake with right now. I am looking for any type of recipe for using the apples. Cookies, cakes, jams, jellies, anything at all. Can you help please? When was the last time you baked with fresh picked apples? HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

Here's a recipe for you. How about cutting up an apple into slices, put it into the blender with a cup of milk, add a banana, add a table spoon of peanut buttera, add some cinnamin and a table spoon of vanilla. Press the shred button on the blender, then press blend button, and then press frappe button, and then the stop button. It makes for a frothy tasty treat. Let me know what you think. Take Care, Keola12

A friend of mine gave me a bunch of Haroldson's yesterday so I'll be baking up some apple crisp with it....probably about early next week....I am busy for the weekend so won't have time to do it until then.

I just core them, put butter, brown sugar, raising or nuts and microwave for 3 or 4 minutes. I am not doing much baking. Apples are great in almost anything, though. I chop them up and put them in pancake batter.

I don't have a whole lot of recipes for using apples, if I come up with some I'll let you know. My apple tree is looking good too, we didn't have alot of damage this year either so I've got my eye on a few apples out there, they're almost ripe enough to pick, I'll probably try to make a pie or cobbler. I know a lady not far from us and she makes the best apple butter, and maybe if I give her some apples she'll make us some, my husband would love it.

I am not sure if the apples that we have here in the Philippines is as fresh as the ones you have that are picked from the tree, then goes straight into dishes or pies. I tried growing them, but it seems our weather here is not good for growing apples.

Honestly I don't bake with apples, for some reason I don't like them cooked. Have you thought about maybe apple slaw? I really need to find a recipie myself that I like as I thought maybe the kids would eat it & something a lil diff than the norm & healthy too! :0)

Mmm...apples fresh form the tree. This reminds me that i want to try and get in contact with a few friends and see if they want to go apple picking this weekend at one of the many orchards that offer a "pick your own" option. I am just craving a nice baked apple, filled with brown sugar and butter, and topped with fresh whipped cream...mmmmm

We have two huge apple trees in our backyard. Like clock work, every October I have relatives crawling out of the woodwork to beg for apples. Sometimes I'd like to charge admission for the favor.
