How do you prepare your lawn for winter?

Do you use fertilizer in the fall? Grass Seed? My lawn is so disappointing to me in the spring was wondering if there was something i could use before winter to help it grow thick in the spring.

if you need reseed your lawn or patch up some bare spots you may do that as the weather starts to cool down in the fall normally in august and september every year around halloween in october you should apply scotts winterguard to your lawn then around valentines day in february you should apply haltz crabgrass and weed pre emergent the weeds have not yet to appear at this time so you put the pre emergent down and when the weeds start to come up it will suffocate them out and kill them before they come up all of these products are sold at lowes home improvement
