Why women like to wear high heels?

I went with my girlfriend shopping a couple of times, and sometimes she went into the Baker shoe store, and look around those high heel shoes. It just strike me while I was looking her and other ladies picking the high heels. Would that be comfortable to wear? Can you walk fast with high heel? The only reason I knew high heel is that it will make a shorter girl taller. What is the psychology that a woman wants to wear high heel shoes?

They can be comfortable but by the end of the day your feet are going to hurt. Some women can walk fast in them just fine, some women can not. Yes they can make you taller. I don't think there is really a psychology behind heels. We need them when we dress up to go with our outfits, but women who wear them even when not working, or going to a special event are mostly wearing them for the looks. High heels make a woman sexey, they make us appear to have longer slender legs. They say, "Look at me I'm hot." That is what it is about trying to look hot. It is a typical thing with younger women. Then we get older and we just want to be comfortable. I traded in my heals for tennis shoes about 10 years ago. My feet thank me.

wow, thanks alot to share this personal insight with us here. I thought so, and I agree with your statement. Sometimes, I did think that they have nice and slender leg when they wear high heels, especially those model type of girl, they look extremely good at high heels.

LOL Lady M - I'm with you. When I was younger and working full time in the corporate scene, I wore heels. I'm average height, so it wasn't about being taller. And often I wore slacks, although it's true: high heels can and do accentuate the calf muscles. But there's something about the "look" of them - they are so feminine...you can't help but feel it when you put them on. Even in the discomfort of them they feel "sexy" and give you that sense of "woman" inside.
But these days....it's flip flops and clogs for me. So much more comfortable! On the very rare occasions that I do need to wear heels, my feet are not very happy at all.

As for me on daily basis, I wear a one inch heel. But for a party or get together I always prefer heels. It adds to my confidence and I feel good about it. Also with party wear, good heels go better than flats. As of walking fast, not really. I cant walk very fast wearing heels. It also depends on the type of heels and to which one I am more accustomed. I hadnt worn point heels all my life, out of fear that i would fall. Recently i bought one and I am very cautious while walking in it. As of comfort, again those who are not used to, will get pain on calf muscle and back pain. Also if the sandal doesnt fit well, it will hurt too, but that againis common for any sandal with or without heels.

It is very uncomfortable for men but not for ladies. With that heels they stand tall and look nice. Isn't it?

Well, apart from making me taller, high heels make feel good and look good. I feel comfortable wearing high heels too. About running part, well, I did run to a bus stop once while wearing high heels. No problem at all. I even managed to board the bus. The point is, once you're used to wearing heels, you'll feel comfortable with it.

there are different shoes for each occasion. high heels shoes are worn for a particular purpose too. there are a lot of comfortable high heel shoes and there are women who walk fast with them. a lot of dancers that i see on tv are really at ease with them and are very good in carrying them.
yes, of course, they make u taller and comparing a formal attire worn with flat shoes and high heel shoes, u can immediately spot which appearance is sexier, more appropriate and formal.
there are business establishments with dress codes and high heel shoes (not very high though) are a must. bank employees need to be presentable and lady employees high heel shoes to help portray the image that they want.
i wear heeled shoes to the office to pair with our office uniform. i am more comfortable in heeled shoes (about 2 1/1 inches high) than wearing flat shoes.
it all depends on the woman, really.

It can be a true statement. Usually high heel shoes would make a woman a couple of inches taller. These shoes are preferable because of that, and you should also look confident when you walk out of the street.

High heel makes you look taller, sexy, good posture.. yes you can also walk fast if you are used to wear high heels.

Many women think its fashionable. Some think its makes them look hot. Some women see that other girls are doing it and copy them. Others also wear it look tall. I don't think there are any other reasons psychological or logical.

Hi Clorissa,
Not all woman like to wear high heels. For working ladies, they wear high heels most of the time. Their job required them to wear in smart and high heels shoes will make a woman looks more professional.
I used to wear high heels shoes when I was working,no day without high heels shoes.
I can even wear high heels for shopping and my leg won't gets tired.
But once I quit my job and gets married, I seldom wear high heels. Most of the time, I will go for nice sandal for daily used.I will only wear high heels for special occasion like wedding dinner,party.
