Wow, not since Rupert from Pearl Islands went and sold the other team's belongings at the beginning of the show has somebody had the chutzpah to mess with people's things the way Russell did tonight. But Russell is far more evil than Rupert ever was. What Rupert did was for the benefit of his tribe, and Russell is messing with his own tribe. Other than dumping out their water and burning Jaison's socks and making the same alliance with four different women, it will be interesting to see what he's up to. I just wonder if he isn't weakening his own tribe too early in the game. Also, people who are this blatantly sneaky this early in the game usually get voted out early. Does anybody think this guy will make it to tribal council? I don't.

Thankfully, a couple of them have already figured him out and I don't think it will take long for the others to find out. What amazes me is that he is so arrogant, he thinks evil and cruelty will help him win the game? He says, 'I just want to show them how easy it is to win this game.'??!! I can't wait until they vote him out and then he will see what a bad idea it was. And they were showing him so much, we didn't get to see much of the other tribe. Our local newscast showed a woman from town who was on the show, but I don't even remember seeing her!

Yes, we didn't get enough time with the other tribe, did we? One of the above responders said that she usually picks a few favorites right away, but the focus was so much on Russell that she couldn't. I feel the same way...

That is true. It is difficult in a balanced first episode to make a good first impression, but in the case of this it is impossible to get a favorite or two. I stated that he would stay to episode 5. Some people disagree. The reason I say this is because I think his team has a good chance of winning the challages. So we will see. I am just so glad it is back on. I hate the summer break. Way too long.

When there is a trouble maker like the Pit Bull Russell, they focus on that tribe for viewers. Whoever gives the best performance.

Hey Dawn, Glad to see you are a Survivor fan. Russell is pure evil. What he is doing is sabotage. Like he said, he's an oil millionare. I can't believe everyone was so willing to vote out Marisa just on his lies. So what if she didn't trust him. She was right not too. According to the previews, he does something to one of the females during a competion. Did you see that? I think he's nuts and scary. Ben the bartender was winking at Ashley at Tribal Counsel. He's probably looking for a sleeping partner. I think that most of the women should wise up about evil Russell because I don't think he can control his evil doing. He's not smart about it. I think you may be right about him being booted before he can be voted out. Leenie

Yep, he's not as smart as he thinks he is and I hope this doesn't end up being one of those where I spend the entire run wondering how come everybody is so dumb falling for his crap!

One thing that I have learned over the 17 years I have been married. NEVER underestimate the intelligence of a woman. My wife (seriously) by far exceeds my reason on many subjects. Women have a way of seeing right through you. I imagine Russel is not married or at least he is divorced and I can only imagine why. Hey BTW I have started my discussions for this season too. Drop by some time. :)

Russell is very diabolical. As he stated, he doesn't need the money, he is there for the game playing and to mess with people is all. I wonder if he has friends outside the game at all that he ytreats this way. It will make for great TV is about all. Once others find out whom did the water emptying and sock burning etc they will hand him his head on the end of his torch. Hahaha! This is looking to be a great season of Survivor so far. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

I believe the point he is trying to make is that he IS trying to weaken his group knowing that there will be a change up in 3-4 weeks. He is counting on that. Good to see so many survivor fans this year. I have started my yearly survivor commentaries this year again. Would love to have you drop by my thread and tell me what you think. Pastor G

Yay you are a survivor fan too!!! I definately hear ya...there is just something inherantly wrong with that guy! This guy just creeps me out to the point that if he isnt gone soon im really not sure i will be able to keep watching him....i dont usually get that invested in the characters on survivor and big brother but man he is a skeez....just makes my stomach turn.... Im with you i think he will get caught onto rather quickly and be voted out but you never know...right now his tactics seem to be working.... I was so busy being incredulous at Russel I didnt even figure out which of the other castaways i like or dont like yet...usually i have a few favorites the first night... I honestly dont see how making his tribe weaker will help him at this point in the game...maybe after the merge but right now?? But i guess he is smarter than me since he has all those millions and i dont... Also he seems to think EVERY female is dumb...what a jacka$$

Stranger things have happened.. well, maybe not stranger, but strange. I would have never thought lot of them would have made it as far as they did/ Remember that girl - Sugar.... everyone hated her the entire season... yet she was second in the finals. Russell, although the villian.. is at least playing the game with intelligence as opposed to the bickering and whining and all that has been in recent seasons. He tells us viewers exactly how the cow is gonna eat the cabbage. Gotta say... he is playing the others quite well. That Jaison needs to just volunteer to leave or shut the heck up. The women seem to be nothing but a bunch of empty headed nothings, except Shambo... at least she puts forth effort and all. The guys...can't remember to many of them but the above mentioned. I am not to thrilled with this season...Russell is the only one making it worth watching.. just to see what evil he is going to do this week! Something to look forward to. Other than that, I probably wouldnt watch much.

Dumb was probably wrong word... I just meant the women are not DOING anything revelent. They don't help around the camp unless told to.. they don't have any strengths that they rely on and use, they just seem to be there blessing the tribe with their presence. Except Shambo..she does work around the camp.. puts her abilities to work and and things like that. I don't even know the names of the women.. other than her.. since she is the only one doing anything. Same with the men... Russell... know his name! But can't think of any of the others... Ben was the mouthy one.. but he is gone. But this season has Russell and that isintriguing. As far as him weakening his tribe... to me.. it seems that when there are two tribes... you try to vote off the weakest members so that the strongest are not held back by that in the challenges. HOWEVER, when they merge and there is one tribe.. they should be voteing off the strongest...to save themselves and hoepfully be able to win immunity often as possible

Oooh this guy burns me up. So we were watching last night and the first thing he does is TALK, no BOAST on camera about how he doesn't even NEED the money and he's not there to win the money really, just to show how easy it is to screw people over etc. Then he went about dumping out the water and burning socks and calling the girls 'the dumb short blonde' and 'the dumb long blonde' and 'the dumb brunette' but then HE'S the idiot who can't even say MARISA'S name right!!! One more thing, why do these people who believe they are God's gift to Survivor end up being the ones who are downright plain or creepy or even lumpy where they shouldn't be..... dare I say... fat? LOL! At least if you're going to think you're hawt, try to at least FAKE it. I don't see anything like an Ozzie or a James in THIS crew, definitely not eye candy girls either. We think he's like this year's Coach, only worse. My hubby is convinced they pick actors to play the crazies but I'm not so sure. I AM curious as to where these people come from, I mean they are so far out of reality it's like they escaped from a mental institution or something! I don't know what else to think.

It sure does seem like they must make some of these characters up, but I don't think so either. There are enough characters to go around!

I don't think he's going to make it too far. I can't remember her name, but the police officer that Russell said was smarter than the other women he made an alliance with (and also called an old woman) is already really suspicious of him. He performs well in the challenges so far though, and that will keep the target off him unless he does something and gets caught. I hope he gets caught, his tribe might just skin him alive.

Actually I don't think Russel shows how devious he really is with his team..I think he shows his devious side more on camera. I think you meant to ask, if we thought Russel would make it to the final 4...not just to tribal council. He has been to tribal council several times..lol I would like to see him last...I think he is playing a good game, and that's what it's supposed to be a game.

I'm sure he doesn't nearly show how devious he is to his teammates. He'd be gone if he did.

Well, there is a huge difference between what Rupert did as compared to Russell. Rupert sabotaged the OTHER TRIBE so he can help out his own tribe. Meanwhile, what Russell is doing is sabotaging his own tribe, which is counterproductive since that will cause his team to continue losing these challenges. When it's already merge time, then probably he can do that since they'd continue losing people if he keeps doing that.

Exactly!!! And I just wonder what the heck Russell is going to do when they finally merge and he is outnumbered. If he makes it that far, it will be really interesting!

Now that the season is a few weeks old, I honestly can't believe that Russell from Foa Foa is still there. It only seems right to define which Russell that we are talking about since there is one of them on both teams. From the first episode I have hated him and said that he was a snake. The fact that he found it necessary to lie to all of the people on his team about being a victim of Hurricane Katrina was just downright cold. Then, trying to destroy and break down the team doesn't seem right to me either. If I were going to play the game like he did, I don't think I would have started my antics quite as early as he's done. He should want to have a strong team to get to the point where a merge occurs and then start with the antics when there isn't a minority of people that know him. As it stands now, if there was to be a merge next week, the Foa Foa members would be picked off one by one.

It's Russell S. (good Russell) and Russell H. (evil Russell), I believe. After last night's episode, I have a bit more respect for evil Russell (and less for good Russell picking the comfort items instead of the practical). When the tribe all wanted to vote Ben out, he was smart enough to go with it instead of pushing what he wanted down their throats. Still, I agree with you. How is he going to survive when his tribe is all gone and he's out there among the other tribe?

I know this won't get very good responses, but Russell would have to be my favorite this year. I think Russell will make it through this tribal council. He still has enough pitty from people from the lie he told about losing his home in new orleans to keep him around another week. I have always like the villian in reality shows because they make the shows interesting.

You are right, they do make things interesting. I do think he'll make it a few weeks, but if those people have any brains, he will be gone before the merge. Then again he may manage to oust all the people with brains first...
