I have been a bum ever since I graduated from college three years ago. I have held two jobs since then which both lasted for only a month. I don't know what seems to be the problem. I felt as if I don't have any goals in life. My professor told me that everyone has their goals in life, but why is it that I am like this? I don't know what my goal is. I know it's time for me to set up my goals in life. I just don't know how to.

LdeL, to set up goals one should know one's strengths and weaknesses. Hence the first step to set up goals is to do what is called a SWOT[Strengths/Weaknesses/Opportunities and Threats] Analysis. In this effort you could enlist the support of your close friends, those who know you well. They will be able to check if you are over-rating yourself in any department. From the fact that you have talked of job being lost in a month or so I presume your goal setting exercise if job related. In order that what I say be of help to you, you need to tell what are your qualifications, and where you expect to be employed.I will continue after you respond to this post of mine.

Thanks for that information. It was actually my fault that I don't have a job. I always tend to quit or resign. I am an education graduate and already passed the licensure examination. My first job was not related to my degree. I first worked in a call center but after a month of training I decided to quit. After several months, I became a substitute teacher. After a month of teaching I decided again to quit because I cannot yet feel the passion on that field. Since then I haven't tried to apply for a job. I am now pursuing my Masters Degree in Education but still I cannot see the point on pursuing it whereas I don't like to teach in the first place.

Everyone must have a period in deep confusion or dilemma during his/her life.and you are now just graduated from school, you are young, so everything is not late to you. if you want to set up a good goal for your life, i think you firstly should know your intersting and know what are you want to do.and then you can set up your goal based on your intereting. Good luck

"When someone is searching," said Siddhartha, "then it might easily happen that the only thing his eyes still see is that what he searches for, that he is unable to find anything, to let anything enter his mind, because he always thinks of nothing but the object of his search, because he has a goal, because he is obsessed by the goal. Searching means: having a goal. But finding means: being free, being open, having no goal. You, oh venerable one, are perhaps indeed a searcher, because, striving for your goal, there are many things you don't see, which are directly in front of your eyes."-by Hermann Hesse This is what I mean.. Tooooooooo much philosophical isn't..:)

So, in that case, I do have a goal? lol =) Because up to now I am still searching. I haven't noticed how many opportunities I rejected because I'm too busy searching for that thing I like.

I guess that's the problem with me. I wanted something which is on my interest. That's the reason why I cannot seem to enjoy working.

Hey, Yea I also don't really have any goals in life, I actually had to repeat year 12, because I had absolutely no motivation in order to do the work that I needed to do. Just try and set yourself a goal or something, and work towards that. Make sure you have a good day, Happy Lotting!!
