This is a shot of some of my corn stalks I grew this year. I am drying them out for fall/harvest season decorations for Halloween and possibly Thanksgiving. Do you make your own decorations or buy them commericially? HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

Well dangblasted..I totally forgot to save some of my cornstalks for decorating out front. Instead, I already chopped them all up right after I harvested the sweet corn. Oh wait! I still have the popcorn I planted late out front near the road. Guess I could use those IF they are done by end of Oct. Just leave them planted and put a few bales of straw and pumkins nestled among the stalks. Thanks for the great idea, Grandpa Bob.

Mess 'o' beans - Picked from just 3 plants.
My corn grew great, just a few small cobs is all. As for my peppers, wooooooowwwwwwwwweeeeeeeeeee..I was going to take a pic but they are all drooped from the rain but I have 3 that reached 5'tall. While I was out there, figured might as well pick some green beans. I picked alright as you can see by the picture I took just now. lol I last picked 2 days ago. This is from only 3 plants. I'm hoping to give this bunch away today as I'm tired of them finally.

No, not the Bah Humbug or scrooge type here just don't have places to put things out like I used to and don't have all the kids and grandkids around to enjoy the things.

I do like to put out some beautiful fall squash. The colors and shapes are so festive. If you get tired of looking at it, you can always eat it! lol Happy fall and enjoy your decorating!

That's great GrandpaBob, you are really a jack of all trades, and you know how to take the things that you have to use for many purposes. That saves a lot of time and money. You are a great inspiration, you enjoy life and live it to the fullest. I don't usually decorate for any of the holidays except Christmas. But the decorations that I do see are beautiful, my neighbor across the street decorates for just about every holiday there is.

I love decorating for all the season. I wish I had the time to grow my own for decoartions. But I just don't have the time. so I pay someone else to grow them and then I arrange them around my house they way I like. I will be decorating here in the next few weekends for the fall season. I will submit some pictures after I do it.

I don't decorate my house. Last year, someone on the local BIA got the brilliant idea to put up cornstalks on the light poles along the major commercial section. Between the squirrels and the vandals, they didn't last very long and the sidewalks were a mess.

This is why I don't decorate anymore. The vandals (squirrels and raccoons) like the wreck havoc on them at night. I actually put a fence up around my popcorn just so they can't damage and eat them. Christmas lights usually end up chewed to bits within days of putting them up outside. I give up outdoor decorating and just do a tree and some lights inside.

I live in aq city of 60,000 plus and so far have not had problems with my outdoor decorations. Well I pout the lights around my yard early October before it gets too cold and have had kids cut through the yard when trick or treating tear them down. But thats accidentaly not intentionally. I usually have a couple bales of straw or hay, a few gourds, a few opumpkins and the corn stalks as a decoration for a couple months out front. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

I bought some decorations years ago and I use those. I take good care of them so they're in very good shape. I probably won't have to buy any for a few more years. I had planned to use corn stalks but only one corn plant came up!
