Yes, I believe in God. I believe that He is the Creator of the Universe (of all things both that we see and that we don't know about yet). I believe that 'creation' is not a 'one-off', 'happened in six days' kind of thing but that it is happening all the time and that we (as humans) are a part of it and involved in it (if we understand and wish to be) with Him.
I believe that God loves His creation and loves us and asks us to be involved in His creation because we are His children. I also believe that many people - from all religions - have many wrong ideas about God. I see people telling others how to behave before God; I see people threatening others with fire and destruction and Hell if they don't do as they are told (as those people think). I see a world of sadness and sorrow and fear in the teachings of most religions ... oh, sure, with a promise of happiness provided you do as you are told!
God is NOT like that. He doesn't create unhappiness and sorrow. It is we that do that to ourselves. Creation ... God's Creation ... is not something like making a pot or saying "So shall it be!", it is an intimate involvement and, because He is intimately involved with everything created, He is in our hearts and waiting for us to involve ourselves with Him. That is what free will and acceptance is about. When we do that, we become truly part of God and He part of us and, by learning to listen to Him, we learn how He wants us to be. When we do things that are not aimed at the way His creation is aimed, then we sin, but by the closeness in mind and heart that we develop through loving Him as He loves us, we also learn that we are forgiven.
Once you are 'with God' (and He with you), bad things that happen to you are not of God's choosing, exactly. They may be because of the actions of other people who don't know about God; they may be because you yourself set a foot in the wrong path or they may be simply because there is something you need to learn (and if you have a right relationship with God, He will protect and teach you). The first time that we cut ourselves with a knife or are pricked by a thorn may be a 'bad' time but, by that experience, we learn ... and are meant to learn!
Blaming God for bad things is very natural. Did you not, when you were a child, blame and maybe hate your mother or your father for some action or other? Perhaps for saying that you could not do something that you wanted to do? God is like that too ... sometimes He prevents us but more often He lets us do what we want so that we can learn from our experiences.

Hi owlwings, I read ur previous post, and this, and I am inclined to agree with u. God cant be punitive, it is so silly to create failings in the person and expect the person to be perfect like himself. God is just love, compassion, and all that. Religion are as u pointed out, personal experiences of different people - I might add living in different parts of the world, in different times. There are several subjective interpretations of those experiences with utter contempt for people choosing to seek god in their own way. Religion is supposed to guide us towards god, and not against one another. Instead, there is competition between the religions, as if it were some corporate houses bidding for some contract. I do find it odd. When we are young, we find it difficult to understand why we should not do something that we are told not to do. Perhaps, religions were created to help people handle that situation. But as a grown up, I do find it difficult to remain in the confines of some beliefs that dont really make logically sense to me. I am open to reasoning, if it is offered with logics. Not as some statement - "Because it is so" or "that is the way it is". I cant swallow that. I am so glad I came across ur post. I feel so normal. I too relate to god in a manner similar to the way u do. And I beleive that if we were all able to love everybody, and come to a moment where everybody loved everybody then some cosmic force will emerge from us that will engulf us all, and it will be a beautiful feeling, where we will feel no hatred, no pain, no sorrow, no envy, no frustration, none of those negative emotions. But the big thing is can we bring everybody to love everybody for that one moment.

My evidence is my experience with deity, which I cannot convey in any meaningful manner to another person. It is something that must be experienced to know, and for me, it is knowledge, not just belief. Because of my experience, I have a direct and personal relationship with deity. It is up to me to keep the relationship alive.

I think that your personal experience (and mine) is everyone's right. Sadly, many people are diverted from it by their experience with 'religion' (of whatever kind).
I find this very sad because, on the one hand, religions are set up BECAUSE people have had a personal experience with 'deity' but, on the other, they become a way of controlling and manipulating people who have not (yet) had that experience.
I find myself in the position that I cannot say that religion is 'wrong' but neither can I say that it is very wholesome. I think that religion's proper role is to lead us to that point where we can have a personal meeting with Him/Her/It ('deity', if you prefer ... I have met Him as a Oneness and an Intelligence that I can only think of as a 'person' - 'He', to my way of thinking - so I hope you'll understand if I refer to 'deity' that way) and that that point always depends on our personal destiny and path in life. Some people, I believe, are exceedingly uncomfortable if they are expected to meet 'God' directly. I think that He knows about that and acknowledges it. In the words of Mother Julian of Norwich, "All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well."

Hi Anurag. Yes, I do believe in God, and I believe he has given each person "freedom of choice." When bad things happen, it is usually something in nature...such as weather, that causes them, or, it is a person or people that do bad things. It is not God, and since he gave us freedom to choose our own actions, I do not blame him for those bad things. @taztheone (1721)

Ofcourse I believe in god & I believe that my very existence is only because of him. If I don't believe in god, then it's better that I quit living because what's the reason for living. These are my thoughts.
Happy Lotting
