Getting $ 3000 per month, is it so-called a high salary in your town?

Long long ago, I had learned English in an international scool, New Oriental, in Beijing! I knew that the teacher there made a fortune of us though I didn't find out what exactly they made each month! Days ago, someone asked one American teacher at New Oriental in Hangzhou, how much could she earn each month? The answer was ca. $3000! Then, we talked about it.... Truth be told Americans made more in the US a month. People know that how cheap it is to live in China and how much they can save. So, some Americans prefer to staying in China (Beijing, shanghai, etc)! I don't want to rant on the money thing though, I know a lot of ppl on this board make more in your town. Someone told me that if someone made $50000 a year in the US, she or he is a middle-class person! Is that ture? I've know idea about that since only a few people said that! How much can a middle-class person make in your town? Getting $ 3000 per month, is it so-called a high salary?

I take home about that much every month and if I were a single man that would be quite a bit, but when supporting two people it isn't really all that much. I would say at least $36k take home per year per person would be a good amount to have if you can do it.

$3000 mothly is really high salary up here. It belongs to top managerial position in a high caliber companies. So they can be counted as high class. However more people earns more, like up to 20K US$ monthly for MLM top leaders, many property brokers and insurance middle-top leaders make up to 15K in average.

Yes. It is definitely high salary in my area. We live in a poor town as it is. I think alot of people here make way less money than that. Most are on the poverty level. the economy is bad right now too.

It is a high paying salary if you live in small town or rural area where things are cheaper and you only need to support small family member. You'll be loaded with that amount of money. But if you're staying in a big city or you have a large number of family member to support, that amount of money is considered as low. In this country, a teacher with Degree can earn around RM2000++ for average (=$574++ USD) without allowances and extra money each month (which also included each month in the paycheck)

After taxes, yes that's fairly high. But before taxes it's just your average job here. Teachers excluded. They don't get much money here.
