Hi all. I've observed that I've been tardy for the previous months. I always feel bad whenever I realize that I am again late in going to work for it somehow signifies that I am not that organized. Now, i am aiming to be one of the punctual employees starting this month. For this month, I never came late and I hope i can make it til the end. Anyone else in here comes to work late? Why?How do you feel about it?Can anyone also advise me how to organize things better?thank you and happy working..

I have actually only been late to work once. I got chewed at pretty hard by my boss over it, and since that, I have not been late again. This was about 3 years ago. I hope my timeliness reflects well when I get raises. Congrats on making it in on time the whole month. If I were you I would just say set your alarm a couple minutes earlier to get a head start on the day!

Wow. You got me here. Yeah Im always a minute or two late for work. Even though I wake up early or I wake up late. I don't know why but it seems that sometimes traffic is worse than the other days. Or sometimes Im just lazy enough to move fast so I won't be late. I always wake up at 6 for my 8:00am job but Im still late. I really feel bad when I'm late. It takes away the good in good morning. But I really try enough to wake up as early as I can and go to work as early as I can. Well, in my first and second months here in my job, I was so early that I actually go to work at 7:30 but now that I feel burnout with work sometimes, I don't want to work anymore. It's a sign that I'm losing my focus and interest at work. :(

Hi. I believe that inthusiasm and motivation are few important factors that makes an employee respond positively to his work. Your being burnout maybe has affected your drive of going to work early. Maybe you can do some refresher to revive that energy and interest. Thanks for your reply.

Yes, I been late a couple of times but not intentionally. I don't go to work with the intention of getting late or something. My boss isn't that strict but I know it's my responsibility to arrive at work 10 minutes before working time. Besides, it feels good to be at work earlier as it's less stressful. I've more time to get ready for the days activities.

How ironic. I was late this morning. However, the answer to your question is NO! This is the first time I have ever been late to work for this job. The job before this I have had for 6 years and I was only late twice. Today, no one even noticed I was late, thank goodness. Usually I make it a point to leave 15 minutes before work starts so that I know I will be early or at least on time.

i admit that i had been tardy for a few times in the past. i made up for the tardiness i incurred. we are allowed to "slide" ... meaning, work extra time to compensate for the tardiness, but u can only do that 5 times a month. just yesterday, as we had our meeting, we were asked if everyone is amenable to scratching the privilege of "sliding" as it is noticed of late that it has been abused by some employees. the staff requested that they still be afforded the privilege (as provided by the government regulating body we fall under) but this will be given more attention and enforced strictly. to avoid being late, i now vow to prepare things i need to bring to the office and clothes i wear, the night before. and most of all, i vow to strictly "give in to the wishes" of my alarm clock ... i.e. rise as soon as it alarms and get ready for work earlier.

I just started taking a vanpool in to work and that makes me at least 15 mins early everyday. When I used to drive myself, I was always 5-10 minutes late, but no one seemed to care really. As long as I'm getting my stuff done that is.

Yes I'm always late, I always tend to be late. I don't know, whenever I have appointments I always woke-up early and yet I end up being late. Especially if I'm meeting up with my friends, they always get mad whenever I'm late, who doesn't anyway?! I also hate waiting for people who is late. I know it's a bad habit and I tend to change it. I just need to set my mind to be punctual and to prepare my things the night before so that I don't waste too much time in the morning looking for things or keep changing my mind about what to wear. I hope you don't loose a job e your always late but I doubt that.

My workplace is very flexible. I'm supposed to be here at 9, however, due to having to drop my kids off at school at 8:30, plus the traffic I face, I don't get here until around 9:30. I make my time up though, because I seldom take a lunch break and many times I stay later, so I guess that's why I can get away with it.

I've only been late once in my current job and that was literally 5minutes. I had struggled to find a space in the staff car park (which I pay £70 a year for) so had phoned from the car park to say I was on the premises.

I am only late for work if my train is late! I think the best way to make sure you get to work on time is to establish a regular routine in the morning. Get up in plenty of time to get ready, have breakfast or whatever else you like to do in the morning, without having to rush. If it's difficult to get out of bed give yourself an incentive like something tasty to eat or drink when you get up. Organise as much as you can (such as your clothes) the night before. If you are late for work, offer to make up the time in your lunch break or after work to minimise any bad feeling from your boss/colleagues.

Every now and then everyone is late. Overslept, flat tire, car won't start - there are numerous plausible reasons. My concern are the chronically late. It is simply unacceptable. If everyone else can be on time the majority of the time then so can I. It sends the message that you are more important than your co-workers. that you don't have to abide by the same rules as they do. It indicates that you aren't part of the team. It's rude - pure and simple. I would fire anyone who is chronically late.

I always feel bad if I am late for work. I try to make up for it by working harder or longer. I try to give my employer fairness. Hopefully, my employer will see that I try to make up for my tardiness and that I am not deliberately coming in late all the time. I am human. Things happen that are out of my control. I try to go with the flow of life. Sometimes, I get kicked in the head.

There have been very few times that I have been late to work. The few times that I was going to be late I knew in advance and I was sure to call my employer and let them know what was going on and that I would be a little late but I would get there as soon as I could. I have always been the type that likes to show up fifteen or so minutes early so that I am not feeling rushed. I always leave my house early since I never know what I may encounter on my way to work that morning that could hold me up and make my commute a little longer! It doesn't take much to start being on time for work and I am sure that your employer will rely on you more if you are always on time. Set your clock ten to fifteen minuted earlier in the morning and have a time set to leave your house and stick to it.

I've went through this phase in my career when I got pregnant. Though I did not have morning sickness at that time, I found it hard difficult to get-up and prepare to go to work. I usually came in to the work 1hr late and I also feel bad about that. To make the matters worst, the post that I have is what they called 'one man job' so any pending works will still settled by myself. Added to my frustration, I've got hospitalised thrice during this period hence, my work did pile up big time. Though my superior understand what I did go though, it still got impact my overall performance,
