Computer Problems

I just finished a couple of days working on my daughter's laptop computer. Now, I am no expert in computers, but I did manage to make it a good deal better. The main problem was that most of the free space was used on the hard drive. I did succeed in restoring it to about 50%. One problem that continues to bug me is that I could not set the desktop preferences because that feature seems to have been disabled somehow. I tried right clicking on the desktop and selecting properties like I have always done, but when the window opens I could not select a wallpaper. That is a problem I never had before. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this?

I have had to work on mine and my sisters computer before also. I also worked on my mom and stepdads too. I got them working okay but I am no expert either. Have you tried to reformat the disc or do a system restore?

I know nothing at all about reformatting the disk, stephcjh!I did, however, toy with the idea of doing a system restore. I contacted a computer guy that I know, and he is going to take a look at it for her. Thank you, and cute avatar.

That same display property is also available in you control panel and it is labeled as Display. Go check it out, if its not there too then maybe something has disabled it in the registry.
