Hi jugsjugs...How are you doing? Great I hope. I too was put on a sleeping pill along with some other meds to help me sleep. I was on them for about a year and then I decided to try it on my own. Im not having a good time with this. So I ended up taking Tylnol PM to help me. I just cant shut down the brain to go to sleep. Are you thanking about taking sleeping pills?

When I can't sleep I just listen to music until I got to sleep. I haven't tried to take pills. Because I'm afraid what would be the effect of it to me. You know, the thinking of might get over those and all that stuff. And first place, it didn't reach yet to the point that I really need it. Advice to those taking pills: just make sure to take the proper intake that prescribed by your physician. Or consult to a physician first before taking medication. Don't take pills just because your friend has it and just gave it to you. Your medication is different from the others. It might harm you in the end. Happy mylotting!

I should take sleeping pills! I don't sleep through the night and have not in years! I also got in this really bad habit of eating after midnight because I wake up and feel I need the comfort! I will just buy some over the counter pills and see if that works! I'm sick of this!

if a person have insomnia then perhaps they need sleeping pills. but if not then taking medicine is not advisable or your body will be dependent to medicine. if i cant sleep at night i dont take any medication. i just read pocket books or browse internet till i get sleepy.

Hello Jugs. How are you ? So far, I have not used any sleeping pills. I do not have problem with sleeping. Every day, I fall off to sleep easily. That must be because of the tiredness after long stressful days at work. I listen to relaxing music in the evenings after coming back from work. That very much helps relaxing and falling off to sleep.

No I don't. I probably should though. I rarely sleep through the night. I haven't even brought it up with the doctor. It is just something I have learned to live with. Taking pills tends to scare me.

i've never taking pills to help me sleep before is it effective?? :) i think, in the long run, taking any kind of medication would reduce the effect of the medication so take less meds try drinking milk, or reading a book, listening to music to help you get some Zzzzsss.. i think it helps

I used to take over the counter excedrin pm or tylenol pm, but that was years ago. I don't take anything now. My ex mother in law was told to quit taking her ambien and start taking melatonin. I think that is a herbal supplement?

Hi Jugs. No, I don't take anything to help me sleep. The only time I have it when my dr. recommended it when I had a pinched nerve in my back and nothing but nothing would touch the horrible pain. He suggested it, and said that I would at least be able to sleep a few hours and NOT feel the pain. I wouldn't think anyone could take them long-term, as they are addictive, yes? I know some who take them occasionally, but never long-term for that very reason. Most drs. wouldn't prescribe them for the long haul, but would check to see exactly what was causing the inability to sleep and address the underlying problem. I hope you've had a great weekend! I've taken something a handfull of times, but never on a regular basis. I figure that my body will make me sleep when I really need it. I might be sleepy for a few days, but I will survive.

I think may be because I'm still young, I don't think there is any need for me to take medicines to sleep. In fact I'm thinking of taking some medicines to stay awake so that I can utilize more time towards my daily activities. Happy Lotting

Hello jj. I have never taken any medication to help me sleep even if I find it hard to fall asleep because of my long nap in the afternoon. Usually there is no problem for me to sleep well if I don't keep my mind active while sleeping.

In the past year I have taken pills like tylenol PM or Advil PM so I can sleep. I don't do it all the time. If it says take 2 pills I take 1 and I don't do it two days in a roll. I don't even take them twice in a weeks time. I don't want to become depended on them to sleep. I know they say not addictive but I believe anything can become addicted for anyone at anytime.

No I do not take any sleeping pills to help me sleep. Once in awhile if I can not sleep and feel very tense I will take a couple of non-aspirin and then I will fall to sleep.

Once in a while, yes, I take sleeping pills when I haven't slept for days. But after 3-4 days of not sleeping or not sleeping properly, my body eventually gives up on me and I would fall nicely asleep. While it is true that I can fall asleep with pills, the morning after effects are not so good. I feel so groggy and I am afraid to drive, lest my concentration is affected. Are there no side effects on your brother from long-term usage?
