My heart hurt so much when I saw her (see picture)

Stray Cat that is injured - This is a recent picture of a stray cat that I was feeding that after two weeks of not being seen popped back up.

I cried for so long when I saw her. She was fine the last time I saw her and I felt bad because I couldn't protect her from whatever did that to her. She moved a lot as I was taking the picture so I couldn't get a better one of her. She seemed more interested in me then the fresh food and clean water that I put out for her. There are no animal hospitals as far as I know in the township so I called the animal control that oversees my campus. The woman who came left her and I was happy because she said that they were going to put her down although the wound was not life threatening. I haven't seen her in a week since the photo and I hope that the rain cleansed her wound and that she heals. I still put out food just in case she might pop up again. Have you ever felt pain for seeing an animal suffer and not being able to help it?

Yeah, I felt that way when Hobo was injured, finally a friend saw him and said she'd pay for his care if I caught him and cared for him, so I took him in - you can see his picture in my photos, he had a gaping hole in his neck and after I fattened him up enough to be operated on the vet put 33 stitches in his neck and pulled his right ear to the side - he also had some paralysis on that side of his face...

That was a freaky picture of hobo in the "Wanted" pic but he's still a cutie. That is beautiful that you had a friend that could take care of the vet costs for Hobo. I wish I knew more reliable people. We took in a stray during winter one time and found out that she was pregnant. We couldn't keep the kittens so we gave them away to family who gave them to someone else once they weren't "useful" anymore. I just can't stand when people adopt pets to use them instead of just being an addition to the family. I'm just happy that Hobo has a home and is safe.

I apologize, I didn't know. but you gave him six years of happiness and that is all that matters. I am starting to think that if a vet doesn't love animals then they shouldn't pursue that career. I just wish I was stronger because I originally wanted to become a vet but I'm too sensitive. I actually hope to make lots of money in the future so I could have a campaign for and establish convenience and affordable animal care services all around the US for now. That is dreadful that the vet could reason that a stray's life isn't worth saving. Your a magnificent person for staying strong for Hobo when he needed you.

That is my down fall...to see an animal without a home. They can't tell you if they hurt, they can't tell you that all they want is love, they can't tell you that they want you to be their new home. All they do is simply look into your eyes, and meow.. hang around to be fed, and get scared when you go near them, because they are afraid that you will hurt them. I have two that hang around my home, besides the one that I already have. If I could afford it, I would take them all in, but unfortunately, their food is often more expensive than ours, and the vets obviously are not affordable. Which is the reason for many street animals. Those that have kittens and toss them aside are cruel, and I wish there could be something done with those people.

I know what you mean about not being able to afford to feed them. My first time living on this particular part of the campus and I ended up feeding 9 strays! But I am foolish and literally spent the last of my money on cat food because I couldn't face them and their meows without something to feed them with. I fortunately had enough food to last until I got more money, when that happened. I noticed that all of the strays looked familiar and had a deformity on one of their paws and I just hope that they weren't put out because of that deformity. The cat in the picture has already had kittens before and I was feeding them too before I left for the summer. I am just annoyed that my school doesn't allow cats in the dorm.

Geez, that looks just like my cat, Cali. I just saw her though so I know she's fine, lol. My heart always goes out to an animal in pain. I'm especially a dog lover and I hate to see one of mine or anyone else's in pain. I had a neighbor's dog that came up here alot and he cut his leg bad on something, almost severed it. I ran down to the neighbor's house and got them and they took him to the vet. Fortunately he is fine now, but I was really scared for him when it happened. The weird thing is he was running around trying to lick me like nothing was wrong.

Hi LiveLove, I did! And it was a stray dog! And I was terrified! Actually, some kids around here where pelting stones at it, and for whatever reason, it stood on its hind legs almost as if it was asking for my help. I could, of course, ask the kids not to throw stones at the poor being. But undeniably, I was afraid of what he might do to me. Well, it went away, after the kids left, and I put the incident behind my mind, until u reminded me of it. :)
