Do you lie about your age when you meet someone?

When I was younger I did lie about my age when meeting someone. I was actually younger and wanted people to think I was older. I thought it was the cool thing to be older than I was really was. I thought I would get away with doing more stuff if I lied about my age. I thought wrong. Lying about my age just got me in trouble. It is always is better to be truthful then lie. Lying just gets you in trouble. Getting in trouble is not fun.

I never had to be in that spot. Thing was that I looked a good many years younger than I was even when I told the truth. I remember being 19 and having to show 3 different forms of ID at any club or often even to buy a 6 pack. The drinking age was 18 back then. So I never had to lie about being older. I had a hard enough time convincing anyone on the truth of my age. I was maybe 33 before this stopped being an issue for me. By then...I was just tired of it. there was no way that I even ever considered being younger than I was. It was good to just be treated like an adult.

I think it is funny. Young people are lying about their age and pretending to be older. When they are older, they are lying about their age and trying to be younger. They will stop lying about their age when they are over 60 I never lie about my age. I don't mind too when someone is asking about my age. I just tell them the truth. It's easier and not require me to think what is the best age for me every time someone is asking me about my age

No, getting in trouble is not fun tuckersheri, you are absolutely correct. However, I will just jokingly tell people a different age when they ask. I don't think that it is polite to ask someone their age, especially a woman. I guess I was just brought up old-fashioned in that sense. The last time that someone asked me my age, I told them that I was 80 years old. Of course, I didn't get in trouble. And they did know I was joking, but it was all good fun. I even said, "I have aged well, haven't I?" LOL I was over seas, and I guess that they really couldn't tell my age. By the time I got ready to leave, I did tell everyone my actual age. I still get offended, for some reason, when someone asks my age. But, here in the United States, if someone guesses, they're usually pretty close to accurate. So I must look my age. Hope you have a great day, and just have fun with it when people ask your age!

Hmm.. I think i'm guilty, but not much. At my age now, most people are already married, but I am still single. So when I meet girls, especially those younger for several years, my tendency is to make my age younger for about one or two years. The reason is I conclude that most girls prefer guys with the same age range. Sometimes if they know that you're old or many years ahead, the tendency is to ignore you. Of course not all and not to generalize, but at least to those younger girls I have met. But the lie is only at the beginning, once we know each other well and become closer, of course I will also reveal her my real age. It's not getting a big deal since it's just one or two years difference. In my case, I haven't got in trouble yet for not telling my real age. Maybe you will only get in trouble if you fake your age for 5 years or more. Happy myLotting!

I agree that lying about age would get you into trouble because I have experienced it when I was still a teenager. There was one time when my friends and I have decided to go into a bar where minors are not allowed. We were only 17 then except for one. We needed to lie about our age, said we were 19 just so we can be allowed. After a while someone recognized us and have us reported. We were so embarrassed but it was fun. It is an experience that is so memorable, but I don't regret doing it.

I don't lie about my age. I don't see the point. My Grey hair and body that had two kids would give it away in an instant. No point in lying when it comes to my life...

No. I don't lie about my age, I just don't talk about it unless it comes up. I always seem older than I am, anyway, just talking, everyone's always surprised to hear how young I am. It's not that I LOOK old, or anything, it's the way I speak that distracts people from my youth. Everyone ALWAYS says, "Wow, you're an old soul!" and I go, "Yeah, I get that alot."

I don't have a reason to lie about my age. I've learned that age is only a number and if you have to be a certain age to do something, there is a reason for it and the consequences usually aren't worth lying about. You're right, lying gets us in trouble, we are found out one way or the other eventually. Getting in trouble isn't fun, sometimes better to avoid it if we can.

hello tuckersheri, good discussion. I am 25 years now, I tell you because you don't know me and we are not fact to face, but I don't like, i just won't let them know my accurate age, I told them that I am at my twenties, or a little more than twenty. And they won't ask more, i guess they understand that i don't want to let them know. Age is very sensitive especially for girls. But my boyfriend always tell others that he is about thirty, though he is only 24. Other people would believe in him because he does look like thirty, much more mature than his real age. And he is really proud at that.

I never lie about my age but people always their own assumption about that. They tend to see me younger than my age and treat me with less respect. I don't see why do they do that. Being young doesn't mean you should get less respect. I also don't see the point of lying about my age. You're right, it might eventually give you trouble in the end. And it is no fun.

I don't lie about my age I have no reason too. I get the bugged eye look when I do tell them my age. When I was younger I was always mistaken for being older. But once I hit 18 I always got mistaken for being younger. Even now when I'm close to my 30's I get mistaken for being late teens to early 20's. My husband gets jokedly called a craddle rubber, and they tell him that he's lying when he tells them I'm a few months older than him.

I have never lied about my age. I look younger than my age. When I tell people my age, they are stunned. I kind of like that. The surprise.

I kid people about my age but don't lie about it. I may say a different age (older or younger depends on who i'm talking with) but at the end of the day, before the conversation finish...I tell them the truth. I agree that lying about our age may get us into trouble. It's not a good thing to do and people will definitely agree that lying is not good. I haven't done lying about my age because i am afraid people might do the same and i agree with you that getting in trouble isn't fun.

Hi there. No I never lied to anyone about my age. I do not see why I should lie about myself. I am who I am. I tell people the truth about my age and have nothing to hide. If they have a problem with it, oh well life goes on.

Yes lying is not good whether it is white or black. But yes, I used to lie about my age before when I was still in high school and would have want to watched cinema which is restricted for 18 years old. Lying about your age is a common thing that every individual do. They lie about their age when young to be able to do things that they are not allowed to do yet. Also oldies lie too because they are in denial that they are already out of the calendar. It is bad when the person you told about it learned that you are not telling the truth.

Yeah. Most of us lie about our age when we meet someone because they think that we are younger to them it will be useful in terms of being careful to others if the people we met is much older. It is often use also when we like that person we tend to cheat our age. It is natural but it is much better to say your true age to others. Hope this respond helps.

I tell my age at all times. I am proud of the years I am continuously living. I am proud of the Warrior Hairs (salt and pepper) I have earned "and I have earned every one of them Thank You Very Much" I believe that the years we live on this planet are just that "the years we live on this planet". Our inner being (spirit) is much older. Oh, and by the way I am 44 years old WHOO!!! HOO!!!

Yes,i lie about my since many people will find out how much older am i. But this kind of lying will not be helpful always. Because sometimes whom you met and told lie will be the manager or other higher officials of any reputed department. He might be wrongly understood the age of ours and write the age in any form wrongly. This might spoil our character if he finds out the original age of ours. So we should always be genuine to others in these aspects.
