Brush your teeth or chew gum?

September 29, 2009 This is a dilemma I face; sometimes I'd rather just chew some gum then brush my teeth. Now I do brush my pearly whites twice a day (morning and evening) but after lunch I'll just smack on some gum call it good. I know a lot of people work in offices so they don't have a personal bathroom to brush. What's your take, brush or chew gum?

Should I be afraid to ask?

Neither, I would just rinse. Too many germs in corporate bathrooms to take a chance on brushing there...and I don't smack on gum myself.

I do have a private bathroom in my office so brushing after lunch and even after every snack time is no problem to me. I am happy I am quite privileged to be sharing a private bathroom with my Boss. I don't have the habit of chewing gum so that has never been an option to me in freshening up my breath after eating. I would rather gargle a mouthwash if brushing is not possible. I am not really comfortable if I could not brush my teeth after eating.

brush my teeth of course. it's been a while since i last bought a gum. bubble gum makes me hungry. every after lunch i make sure still have time ti brush my teeth. it's a good thing you do that as you sometimes talk one on one with your office mates. and besides, it's part of proper hygiene right.

I brush my teeth excessively about 4 or 5 times a day. When I was a kid up until about the age of 20 I wasn't raised to brush my teeth. I have always been poor ghetto and we could never really afford things like toothpaste and tooth brushes, food and rent was always more important so now I think I do it excessively to make up for the past, although I know it really doesn't matter.

Just like you,I brush my teeth in the morning and evening after and before sleeping, and I have to chew gums in the office.my girl firend told me don't chew gums too much because that will softenout teeth so we will loose our teetn before we are really old and what's more,I am having bad teeth because when I was a child I ate too much suger which caused borer to eat my young young teeth, autally I have never offically changed my teeth because the new teen just grow up from the holes which is generated by the borer.I am very sad but till now I still haven't ebough money to maintain my teeth in a medically healthy status which is really a big pity to myself.

That's a hard lesson to learn. I chew sugar free gum.

both, really.sometimes gum is ok when you can't brush (like work lunchtime) but i wouldn't substitute gum for brushing entirely.

The recommendation from dentists is that if you are unable to brush your teeth, then rinse your mouth out with water and chew a sugar free gum. It is also recommended that you finish every meal with a low sugar dairy product to help to keep the enamel strong.

I never felt comfortable enough to brush my teeth at work so I would usually chew some gum after I ate at work. I used to see a lot of people so I had to have nice breath and clean teeth. I did always go and look in the mirror after lunch and make sure there was nothing in my teeth, then I would chew gum until my mouth felt fresher. Now that I work at home I hardly ever chew gum anymore, but I do keep a pack of sugar free gum in my purse just in case.

It's always best to brush rather than chew gum but I think it's okay if a person doesnt brush after lunch. You did say that there are circumstances where people might not have a toothbrush and toothpaste with them. However, if I did have time and was able to bring my own toothbrush and toothpaste, I would definitely brush my teeth after lunch. Well, the most important times to brush one's teeth is during the morning and at night.^_^

This is a really good discussion and I am sure that different people have different opinions when it comes to brushing their teeth or chewing gum,and I am some who would rather pop a piece of gum instead of brushing their teeth, while others do not like going out without brushing, and I can understand that everyone is different, and that everyoneI think it is always has different opinions, ideas, and preferences,I think it is always good to brush your teeth, even though me I would rather chew a piece of gum, because it does not take much time, especially if I am in a hurry to do something,or go somewhere which happens a lot lol, have a great day, good luck with your life, and all of your mylotting goals, and Happy Posting my friend.

Hello gitfiddleplayer, I have a brush and toothpaste in the office. So I would brush my teeth after eating lunch. But some times when I am so busy, I would miss brushing my teeth so I would just chew some gum. we do have a private bathroom there, so we can do our own brushing or washing our face if we want to without anyone coming in. take care!

Well if I don't have a personal bathroom to brush my teeth in I would probably chew gum too, then brush them later when I get home or something.

Hello gitfiddleplayer this is checkmail and often try some chew gum sometimes to clean my teeths. But mostly i use Brush to clean my teeths regularly.Even while doing morning and evening walk, use to chew gum. After lunch its just an alternative if required too.Mostly prefer brushing of teeths when at home and chew gums when outdoors. But use it too less.

You have to brush your teeth.chewin gums comes nowhere to brushing your teeth and it's good to brush your teeth with meswak(the one made of wood.mostly used by muslims)rather than toothbrush.

Yeah, if you are at work and don't have enough time, ou can't barely have your personal hygiene ( bruching teeth after lunch). But it is still good to brush your teeth. Brushing gets rid of the foods left in your mouth and makes you have good breath. Chewing gum can only make your bresh fresh.

I brush my teeth during daytime before going to work and night time before I go to sleep. But during office hours after eating my lunch, I chew gum because I find it tiring to brush my teeth and it takes time for me to wait up to my officemate. So, I just choose to chew gum.
