the questions is what type of printer do you have? is it a usb type, wireless type? if it is a usb printer then it'll be easier, just plug it in your computer and should detect it, it may ask for the driver then that's the time you insert the disc.or you can put the disc first run it and wait for instructions that's all there is.

I have a hp 4100 all in one series. Its not wireless. All I have to do is plug it in and run the disc? You are awesome! Not to mention a genius. I am going to try it. Thanks again. dl

I wont be able to print unless the computer is plugged into the printer or is this just for initial set up? I am clueless on this. My friend has a lap top and she prints without hooking it up. Can I do that Or do I need a different printer?

your friend must be using a wireless printer, yours needs to be hooked up on your laptop so you can print.otherwise in won't work.

There are two ways to print wirelessly:(unfortunately you didn't mention the brand name and model of your printer.) 1. Using a wireless printer - you must have to install the printer software to your pc, then add the printer from control panel and your pc will search the wireless printer since you have a router.(make sure your enable the wifi on your laptop) 2. If your printer is not wireless, you can print wirelessly if you hook up the printer to one of your network computers(if you have morethan 1 pc) then enable printer sharing no both computers. If you don't have shared computers then hooking up the usb cable directly to your laptop would be the last option that you can do.

This is something that would be interesting to me as well. I have not tried, but I thought just running the disk and then installing it would do the trick.

That's what I thought. However its not that simple. I thought the fact that my lap top was wireless it would detect it. NOT! I even ran the disk. NOPE! I guess I have to hook the usb up to it and it should do it. If not run the disk. I now wonder if it will work wireless? I let you know. THanks Gerty! dl

I do not have a clue about wireless routers but perhaps you can get some help here: How To Install A Wireless Printer http://www.pctoday.com/Editorial/article.asp?guid=&searchtype=0&article=articles/webonly/techsupport/536w10/536w10.asp&articleid=58377&WordList=&bJumpTo=True

Do you have a desktop? Where is your printer connected to? If you have connected your printer to your router, you could print that easy with any laptop or desktop. But if it's connected to the desktop, then you can do either of the follow: a. Share your printer through the network so your laptop could see it. b. Send your file to your email and open it on your desktop. This is what I usually do, just to have a copy too or a back-up in my email. There are printers which have wireless or infra-red capabilities too. What is your printer model?
