All summer long I had to put sunscreen one one of the horses noses! His name is River! I had to do it so River wouldn't get sunburn on the white part of his nose! River was pretty good about it! He let me put in on with usually no problem! The things I have to do!

That's one of those things a responsible horse owner does that cares about their horse! We used to have a horse that sunscreen wasn't enough. I had to use desitin or similar on his nose.

I don't know if it is even available .. anymore, but Watkins put out a product called "Zinc ointment", and my Father always insisted in be used, as there was NO chemicals to inhale or ingest, and could even be put around the eyes on piebalds or albinos. I know there is another product on the market, can't think of the name, right now...but SO versatile, that I used it on my son's bottom, as a baby!
For any cuts or scrapes, we mixed the Zinc ointment, with Zambuck and liquid pitch from Fir trees. Just a little backwoods fun, for you! Cheers!
