Strange Happening

Last Night I had a bit of a strange occurrence, as always when going to bed I switch everything of all my Lamps TV just everything
I have a little Touch Lamp which is only 2 months old (I got it in the sale lol)
Well I went to bed read for a while then sleep, my Bedroom is attached to the living room, so I always leave the bedroom door open
I woke up about 3 am, I don't know why I woke up
Gissi was sleeping next to my bed which is unusual for him as he either sleeps in his bed, or under my Bed where he has a warm Quilt or on my bed
Then I noticed the bright light coming from the Living room, I got out of bed and slowly walked into the Living room, the little Touch light was shinning bright and I mean bright it is normally not that bright, no one was there, Gissi can not reach the lamp as it is on a table so he could not have accidentally touched it or anything, I turned it of and went back to bed, but I laid there for a while just waiting to see if it comes on again, but it hasn't
Now I have to be honest this has scared me a bit as it is so strange this has happened
This is the second time I have had an incident with Lights in my Living room the last time was different the Lights would just go on and of and I mean only the Lights nothing else in the room
Has this ever happened to you

As I read this discussion, I was readying my mind for a reply and I was hoping I could share something of my strange experiences but as I read the responses before me, including that rude fezman response, I realize it was just a natural occurrence for that certain kind of lamp. So I decided just to keep it to myself because I don't want to scare the hell out of you and the others here

It's okay I'll reserve the supposedly comment in your next strange happening discussion and by that time I wont hold back

No, I can't say that it has, but I don't have touch lamps. If I did have touch lamps, I would be pretty sure it had been one of my cats turning it on. How spooky though. I don't suppose a fly or a spider or something could possibly have done that?

We have had a number of things happen here. It's not anyone in the house doing it. It is spirits and sometimes a poltergists. Sometimes the resident spirit we have here will take things, and 3 days later it appears right where it was. I have had to ask her to bring certain things back before the 3 days are up like my eye glasses or a bottle of medicine. Important things like that, that I can not do without. Within an hour or so she puts them back right where they were. Others have been mischievious and I have had to make them leave.

Seems like you have a gentle spirit watching over you, my friend. I have a touch lamp as well and for over a year it was on top of the entertainment center where only us 2-legged mammels can mess with it. Then we got rid of it and it now sits on one of the end tables. Well, for 3 nights in a row we would wake up to the light on when we knew it was off upon retiring. Then I caught Domingo in the act of turning it on. Guess he couldn't see his toys very well underneath so turned the light on with his nose to find the one he wants but fails to turn it off afterwards.

Wasn't funny at the time being I'm so strict with lights off when not in use and was blaming my hubby and daughter for leaving it on. Now I know who the real culprit is, we all keep a closer eye on him. lol

Hiya sweets, My ex used to love this types of lamp and would have them around the house, personally they drive me batty, because we had four cats they were so sensitive that they would come on even if the cat brushed up against it or their tail touched it, so many a time I would wake up in the middle of the night to go toilet and would see a light or two on I used to think it was my ex up and would peep downstairs to see if they were there but I got used to it after a while. I guess when you live alone this can be quite worrying!

This seems to be a common occurrence with touch lamps Gaby. We have one that goes on by itself for no apparent reason. At first I thought a piece of paper had blown against it, or a fly had landed on it, or the wind had blown on it, but several friends say the same thing happens. It seems to happen even more in rainy weather or in an electrical storm. Don't worry about it.

No it hasn't but I admit that would be kind of spooky. Maybe it was just some kind of electrical surge or a big bug or a mouse walked over it and that was enough to "touch" the lamp.

Hi hon. I used to have a little touch lamp that I swore up and down was possessed. It would come on at the oddest times and I have to admit that at first it scared the living daylights out of me. For mine, it turned out to be a short in the darned thing and I had to get rid of it (and it was sooooo cute too! LOL). Are you sure Gissi isn't up to his sneaky tricks again? Teeheehee! Love you sweetie.

Ok, 2 things here:
1st I have one of those touch lamps and have found if the power goes out then comes back on the touch lamp turns on with the power. The first couple times it freaked me out - took me a few times to figure out the clock was flashing and the light was on - power went out. I laugh about it now!
2nd don't want to really freak you out but sounds like you may have a playful friend in your house. Yes, have had experience with this also - don't do any harm just like to let you know their around :(

Good friend of mine that lived just up the road from me for years had a 'friend' in her house that liked to move her hair brush. She would brush her hair at night before she went to bed and always left her brush on her vanity. In the morning the brush would be gone. Would find it in strange places like kitchen, garage, livingroom. For some time she thought it was kids getting up in the night but then it 'disapeared' searched and searched couldn't find it so ended up going to the store and getting a new one. Couple months later her husband was in the attic, not easy access, had to get ladder from garage to reach small opening in ceiling. Guess what he found there! Dianne's missing brush :( This went on for several years then one day she met the people who had owned the house before them. The lady asked Dianne if she ever had things come up missing. Dianne right off thought off the hair brushs but before she said anything the lady said, "Let me guess, your hair brush?" Seems this other lady had the same 'problem'. When Dianne and Randy sold the house and bought a bigger house - she never had her brush moved on her again :)

Should add - Dianne and her family lived in the house for 15 years and never had anything but hair brushes moved :)

That is a little strange. And Gissi had nothing to say about it. We have night critters, mice usually who wonder about the house in the dark, but we also have many night lights, being older we don't want to stumble over anything, and with cats and dog in the house I don't want to step in anything that might have been deposited on the floor. If I were you I would get some of the low wattage night lights. this should give you more peace of mind if nothing else. You know about things that go bump in the night. Blessings

My sons first night home he told me of an incident. I tried and I tried to make a discussion out of it and kept getting all kinds of errors. He said someone was pulling his legs trying to get him off of the sofa most of the night. I had to go a ritual to get rid of this prankster. I don't mind them, it's the ones that cause problems with me, family, and guest that I must get rid of though.

That would freak me out too. Maybe the lamp has a loose connection of some kind. I haven't had light problem. I have had a TV go on by it self. Talk about scared. When the house is silent and all of sudden you are hearing voices from another room and find the TV on.

Yes I jumped and my heart was beating a mile a minute. We have to remember to unplug the TV after it happened a few times.

first of all i didnt even know this was a topic to be discussed! second of all, yea trippy dude! i have had alot of very bizzare things happen in my life, so many infact that when theres someone else there to experience it these days, i just shrug my shoulders and usually say something like, em- wow.
with no emphasis.
things like this and others happen nearly on a weekly basis for me, as good as seeing a bright colored light changing colors across the sky within a split second, to hearing a very strange suss sound in the middle of the night that you never usually hear, and you have heard and know every other sound in your house and just have to get up out of bed to check it out!
some times i even see things that avert my attention!

I don't know what world you are living in frezman...but in here we certainly CAN DISCUSS issues like this and any other ones that we deal with in our lives. You have not been here that long and you have no right to tell us what we can discuss. I bet you have not even read the rules for here, and if you have you need to go read them again. Gabs is not breaking any rule!
And YOU will not be here long or make any friends with your attitude. I suggest that you do a complete turn around and play nice or don't play at all in here.
There are several other sites that you can go to and be a jerk all you want o but not here.
You'd better not respond to any discussion of mine like that or I'll chew you up and spit you out! The unmitigated, self centered way you have of responding to this will not be tolerated here.
Gabs, I'm sorry for this jerk doing you this way. You will not find hardly anyone here that will be so brash.

Seems like a two-part response here. First part being somewhat of an insult and the other part responding in kind to the post. Anyways, just let it fly overboard, gabs. :-)

I sometimes forget to turn a light off in the living room. I can't tell from my bedroom so it's a bit of a scare if I walk down the hallway and there is a light on.
I would find it very spooky or trippy as one user said to find a light on that I know I had switched off and I would be pretty scared too. The thing that would save me though is my dog Lucy. If something was wrong she would bark...that's for sure.

That would be scary! A long time ago when the kids were little I lived in an apartment.....the light above the sink in the kitchen was so high you had to climb up on a cupboard to reach it......well I got up one night and it was on.....the kids sound asleep and I was scared! But I do think there was something very wrong in that house......I had a light shining out of a closet that was in the living room in the middle of the night.....and it had no light fixture in it at all!

That's quite alarming; I would wonder too if it happens to me. Totally unusual. If this thing happens quite often, do tell us yeah. If it's just for yesterday night, then perhaps it might be the lamp problem. If not, then something is up. I do believe in paranormal, and if it happens, it happens. Have a good day gabs and take care.

[b]Hi Gabs! No, we don't know one another, but while I was searching for something else, I stumbled across this & just had to tell you a couple of things.
My TV turns itself on & off. I think it's something to do with my cable company, but when I call them, they say it might be that I lost the signal (which would perhaps explain it going off, but...turning on??). They tell me they're not testing the line, & there are no others reporting this problem. And I know it's not the TV; this has happened even before I got my current one.
All my life I've had strange experiences. Runs in the family, too--at least back as far as my maternal grandparents (didn't get to really know my paternal ones). When I was 16, I had a "poltergeist." This is odd because those usually only come when someone hits puberty, & I did that at age 11!
But I had been under a lot of stress with my stepfather & school, so maybe that's why "it" came.
I remember at least 3 odd occurrences off the top of my noggin about the poltergeist.
First, I came into my bedroom to find an open jar of instant coffee emptied all over my bed. I thought my step-dad had done it, but soon, the other weird stuff began happening.
Second, take the overstuffed rocker in our living room. When one sat in it, one could hear it picking up a local AM radio station! I wasn't the only one to hear it!
And third, & most odd, was something my mom & I both saw at the same time. That year, my real dad had given me a silver, metallic Christmas tree. I didn't like artificial trees--not even the "natural-looking" ones (which in those days didn't look all that natural, really)--but as I loved my dad, Mom & I put it up anyway. Then, after we'd finished, we sat down to look it over.
In less than 10 minutes, we watched in creeped-out surprise as, one by one, the limbs pulled themselves out of the center pole, & fell to the floor! I don't recall if we tried to put it back together, but I rather doubt it!
There are other events that have happened in my life, far too numerous to list here, but at least now you know you're not alone!

Well if you are sure that Gissi could not reach the lamp and you know that for certain you did not touch it I would be rather scared. First thing I would have done would have been searched the house for an intruder then made sure all of the doors and windows were closed and locked. Now if you are thinking that it might possibly be something more along the lines of a ghost then I would recommend trying to set up a video tape of some sort to run facing the light to see if it happens again. It would be rather interesting to know your results. Now, on to your question, no this has never happened to me before. I would be rather scared or paranoid if it did.

Hi Shellyann
It sounds like these lamps are very sensitive so it could have been anything if it would have been someone in the House Gissi would have alerted me by barking and going mad but he wasn't he asleep so I knew no one had been or was in the House
