Opinion Outpost changing payment methods

I received an email from Opinion Outpost today that detailed their planned changes to their payment system. For years, the Outpost has been one of the best survey sites for Americans -- it's definitely been a solid site for me personally and I've gotten paid (by check) from them many times before. Unfortunately, they're planning to phase out payments by check next year in favor of a choice between Amazon gift certificates and prepaid Citi debit cards (and you'll be charged a fee if you request a physical card with less than $25...but virtual cards are free). How do you guys feel about this change? Personally, I don't like it. They could at least have let PayPal be one of the alternatives. I do shop at Amazon and the prepaid cards can also be used wherever, but still I'd rather just get cash and then decide how to spend it, save it, or invest it. One positive about all this is that the long waiting period you have with checks will be a thing of the past. Instant redemptions are cool!

I agree, Opinion Outpost is one of my favorite survey sites, and I've always been able to count on them to send my check in timely manner. I wish they would still send checks as an option. I even completed a survey for them not that long ago asking me what I thought of this option. Either a lot of people liked this idea or they disregarded our opinions and went ahead and changed things anyhow. I'll use the amazon gift cards, but not the debit card probably. But I'd prefer the checks.

Happily Opinion Outpost is still sending out checks even though we're halfway through 2010. I wonder if they changed their minds due to the outcry? I sure hope they're not still planning on phasing out checks!

I never read that. I saw that they were still giving paper checks as an option but you could get the amazon code and or have the money put on a debit card. Either way I think I like the debit card better. I get checks in the mail and to be honest I think it takes too long really. I think the Paypal idea is better but look at this for me I have a Premier account and with all the fees paypal charges I would more than likely make nothing. I am going to have to re read the email they sent me and see if it did say that. Thanks for the heads up and happy mylotting to you as well.

I received the email as well, but haven't really had the time to read through it, so I wont be able to really comment on it now. However since Amazon do offer groceries it would be a good alternative to redeem towards this.
