Colored Fabric Softener

I use sheets of fabric softener. They are light colored and very difficult to find when they fall on our floor in the laundry area. The flooring is a light color as well. Would like to see a colored fabric softener something that would catch my eye for some of us that find seeing things difficult at times. I could like a blue or red tint so when it falls on the floor I won't run the risk of slipping on it. What's your take on this suggestion? Thanks in advance for responding.

Somebody makes a blue one. I just don't remember who right now. Seems it was a store generic brand. I do most of my shopping at Walmart so that's probably who it is.

Wow, thanks for the information. Is the generic as good as the better known brands? Will have to check Walmart. Thanks for responding.

Believe it or not there isn't a Walmart very close to our house but I love going there to get craft supplies. Once I make a list and get my act together will check out their other values. Thanks for the good information.

Personally, I like Walmart's Great Value generic better than the name brands....especially the price. I can save .25-.50 cents per can over the name brand items. Their Great Value Peanut Butter is made by Jiff. I'm sure Jiff gets the cream of the vat, but close your eyes & you can't tell the difference!!! With the dryer sheets, i couldn't tell any difference. I don't remember what I paid, but I'm sure it was considerably less. If you try them & don't like them, you won't be out of much money. It seems like they were light blue so when dropped on an offwhite laundry floor, you could find them!!!

I'm allergic to that stuff. We had neighbors that used them and I could tell. The dryer vent to the outdoors, I could smell it and it gave me a headache plus blocked up my sinuses. I just buy fabric that is soft to begin with and prefer to line dry, use dryer when it rains and in cold (freezing weather), but my outdoor clothes smell great. So since I use dermatologist tested, scent free, color free, etc. detergent or stuff I make myself, I'm really no help. But I did see something about making your own dryer sheets. So if you made your own, seems like they could be whatever color you want. As for slipping on them, another good reason for me NOT to use them. So if I wasn't allergic to them and if I really thought they were worthwhile and not a waste of money (lots of ifs there), I would check out making them and see if they could be different colors that way. But maybe someone knows some that are different colors already or maybe you could write to the company you buy from and suggest it. I don't know if liquid softener works, but I have seen commercials for those. That might be an option, not for me because I bet they're scented, too. But if that does work, you wouldn't trip and fall. But seems like they would get rinsed out.

Am sorry you have allergies. That has to be inconvenient. Personally, I find the liquid fabric softener not to work as well as the sheets. I have tons and tons of static electricity in my body and all winter I shock everything I touch. It can be terribly embarrassing when meeting someone for the first time..lol Shake their hand and I shock them. So I need something to help with my clothes and dryer sheets seem to help. Making my own might be something different if it doesn't involve loads of work. See above response about Walmart carrying colored sheets. Thanks for responding.

Thanks for all the good information. Part of my problem with static is leaving the dryer on to long. It's on a vinyl floor in the lower part of our house. We don't have a basement. I did hear from Proctor and Gamble and they are going to send my email to another department for review. Will let you know what happens, if anything.

There is also an anti-shock button that people mount on walls and it grounds them. They touch it before they touch people or anything and it helps. The allergy is only a problem when people use the sheets and I'm outdoors and the vent is on, or I have to work with someone who uses drier sheets. I used to know what ingredients were in the sheets. Have you ever looked to see what is in/on them? So if people find some other way to handle it, then I don't have a problem any more.

I think that's a great idea. I would buy them if they were lightly colored and wouldn't fade on my clothes. One time my husband went to work with one of them stuck to his clothes and one of his friends at work saw it and told him. lol They had a good laugh about it.

It is funny when that happens. I had one inside a sweatshirt once and didn't know what was in there with me all day. Black markers don't fade in the wash as a rule but I'm too lazy to mark each sheet with a marker. Thanks for responding.

I think they should make them in a variuety of colors. alot of people have different colors of flooring and some colors would be hard to see for those colors. We have a mixture of blues and grays in our florring with a little bit of slate color also. White shows up pretty good if it has any size to it, but not if it is small.

I did email Proctor and Gamble and will post another disucssion if I hear from them again. They were going to forward my email to another department. I think most people have their dryers in the basement but even a blue or red would show up on the floor if it fell off the clothing. Can't tell you how many times I've slipped on a dryer sheet. I know about those small, shriveled up sheets..lol Thanks for responding.

I had this same problem until I put down a throw rug in front of the washer and dryer. The rug is dark blue so seeing the sheets are real easy now.

That's a good idea but the hallway is long and sometimes it falls off in the oddest places and I don't see it. Thanks for responding.

I dont really use fabric softener but then the point you raised is a valid one because you wash area is likely to have a lot of fluid and colourless fabric softener is likely to increase the risk of injury to slippage .I hope that someone will realise this and make colored fabric softener soon

In my case it is dangerous to drop a sheet on the floor. Didn't fall but have slipped more than once. Thanks for responding.

I think that's a very good idea....then you would also see them clinging to your clothes and not show up someplace just to have a dryer sheet attached to the back of your shirt! Or one that comes sliding down out of your pants! I have had both happen....you should email the company....I bet you get some cool coupons or freebies that way! Last time I emailed a company about a product I really liked I got a ton of coupons....not small ones either....a buck or two off a product or buy one get one free!

Thanks, Jill. That's a great idea. My husband went to work one day with a dryer sheet hanging from the bottom of his khakis all day. He meets with clients, etc. and nobody said a word. I thought it was hysterical when he came home with it still hanging. I thought he blew his nose and it fell out of his pocket and landed on his pants. It was one of those things you have to see..lol Thanks for responding.

Y'know Carolbee, I never thought of it, but that's a really good idea, as well as a compassionate one. Even sheets that are polka dotted would be good, so as not to use quite so much red dye. Excellent idea. You should look into marketing it yourself or selling the idea!!
