Terrible Dream!!!

I had an awful dream today!!! As a lot of you know, my cat is very important to me--she's my baby!! Well...in my dream I was on some kind of road trip with my parents, and for some reason my cat was with us...Well, something happened and it turned out I had to put my cat to sleep (I dont know if she was sick or something else--but something was wrong with her). I held her for along time and just cried and cried in my dream. And after she was gone I still cried. I cried to the point where it hurt in my dream. My mom was there for me, but I dont know what happened to my dad. After I woke up I felt that is pretty much how I would react if my cat ever died. It's kind of what happened when my dog, Mocha, died. I cried a lot and made myself sick. This is the first time I've had a dream that was about one of my pets dying, and I dont know why. My cat is healthy and young (only about 5 or 6 years old). I had to share this dream with someone to get it off my chest! I didn't want to hold this in....so thanks for listening!!

Well it's defeniatly something I fear--but I never think about it. I defeniatly wasn't thinking about it before I went to sleep, I had no reason to! That's what I keep telling myself, it was only a dream!

hi, do not need worry about too much. you know it is just a dream. i often had nigntmares, but i never thought about them too much. and some one has told me that your nightmare is the opposite to your reality. i do believe this. so when i have a nightmare, i talk to myself everything is going fine.:)

I once dreamed that The Doctor jumped off a stair rail and broke his neck, woke me up with a massive start - but what it was that my body was trying to wake me up to go to the bathroom - and I was sleeping thru all the normal cues... I'm sorry you had this bad dream, give her some extra cuddles today

I have a lot of dreams where people die and I've been woken up by some of them that were bad/graphic enough. I gave her lots of cuddles! :) She sat by me when I woke up while I read/watched tv. She is a big cuddler!

I've had dreams like that before about pets and family members. Those dreams are scarier than hell, and I don't know what purpose they serve at all. I guess they are maybe there to prepare us incase the worst does happen, to kind of give us a preview of what may happen some day, and teach us how it will feel, so even though it'll still hurt, we won't be totally surprised. That's the best I can figure, right now.

What you're saying defeniatly makes sense...but nothing could ever really prepare me for having to put my cat to sleep!!! I hope I never have to do it, or at least don't have to until she's old, sick and unhappy!

I've had a lot of bizarred dreams lately--nothing about dying cats, dogs passing away or frogs meeting their untimely demise in blenders... But a lot of off the hook dreams about very avante garde kind of post-apocalyptic scenarios complete with utter nonsense. I wish Carl Jung were still alive... There's a thought, flushing everything you've ever heard about Freudian dream analysis into the toilet, take a look into Jungian dream analysis--it provides an awful lot of insight. dr...

My mind stopped at the frog in the blender comment....lol! Post-apocalyptic movies are always really creepy...so I can only imagine how a dream would go! I don't recall ever having one, thankfully.

Just for the record, I've never put any critters in the blender, but in an early Nintendo game (you remember the old 8-bit cartridge console?)--I think it was Maniac Mansion, you could put a hamster in a microwave (and then there's the rumor about that poor-therapy seeking hamster who's alledged to have had an encounter with Richard Gere) and, lastly, my brother in law called the Geek Squad (Best Buy) and one of the menu options was something zany like "to hear the sound of a weasel in a blender push 4....

Bad bad images! lol. It's a very good thing you've never put an animal in a blender (or a microwave I hope) lol. Richard Gere did something to a hamster!?!?

How horrible. That must have been very difficult for you to experience, I think if I had such a dream I would react in the same way and probably worry for days about my Banjo boy. I wonder what that sort of dream means?

I really hope it means nothing!!! And it's just a deep deep fear of mine surfacing...why it would now I have no idea but...I'm trying not to look to much into it!

I'm sorry to hear that. I am glad that your cat is fine though. We had to put our dog to sleep about 3 weeks ago. That was a very hard thing to do. We had him for 11 years. We got a new puppy though and he is precious also.

Having to put a pet to sleep is awful, I know! But new pets always seem to help, even though the old ones are never forgotten! I'm sorry about your dog, but congrats for the new pup! :)

Hey it happens, sometimes you get the worst imaginable dreams and they can hurt and have this traumatic effect throughout the day. Don't worry though, it's alright, your cat's just fine and there's nothing to worry about :P Sometimes dreams are our subconscious thoughts expressing themselves. So I guess you had this dream because somewhere deep inside you might have been worrying about this situation a lot. I know how terrible it is to lose a pet, after all, they do become part and parcel of the family. It's good that you got it off your chest, otherwise it might've kept worrying you a lot and have these knots in your chest (something like that! :P ). I wish your cat a long long life! ^)^ Take care and enjoy!

I worry constantly about my animals, especially my cat. I've already spent 1,000 dollars + for her EYE...so I would spend whatever I had to too keep her alive...but in the dream it didn't seem to matter. I don't know why I didn't fight for her. We had a cat that lived to be over 20!! And that's all I'm hoping for for my cat! Thanks Savvy!!

Hi Lily: no, thanks for sharing with us your terrible dream. At least dreams are only that and thios only show how good you are as a pet keeper and that you love your kitty a lot. It's nice to know that your cat's healthy right now.
