Facebook: Is it just a waste of time and effort?

Most of us especially teens are like to use facebook and play some of the games in that certain site. Even me, I am also a fan of this site but, then our professor introduce to us this site (mylot). And I realize that this site was much better than facebok. Even if we get entertainment on facebook still we are losing our money and wasting our time. Not like here in mylot that we are enjoying and we also enhance our skills in writing a certain article and at the same time we are earning money (base to what our professor have said). So, I immediately signed up my self to this site (mylot) hoping or trying to earn some money. So, what are you thinking right now? Is Facebook really a waste of time and effort?

It depends... if you like wasting your time typing useless things to all of the friends that you have never met, then no, it's not a waste of time!

I've been a member of Mylot a couple of years ago but I forgot my log in details after so many years of being inactive. My first impression here is not to meet friends but to make money. Making friends and knowing some information just came after (just my POV). Both sites have a big difference and for me Facebook isnt a waste of time and effort because I got to meet a lot of relatives I haven't known for years. I was able to communicate with them in some way and thats really a helpful one. Mylot in the other way helps too when you want to fill your brain with information you didnt know while filling your pocket too.^_^

I don't think we will get around $100 or $200 from my lot & the money you get can be only seen as a pocket money. But you can stay in contact with your real friends & old friends from facebook.

I guess you can say that Facebook is a waste of time and effort since you don't get paid financially for all the work you put into it. But I think most people just go onto Facebook to socialize and not to make money. Some of my friends are very addicted to the site and can spend hours on it a day.

Well, I got addicted to Facebook for these past few months, but not really now. I hate the fact that I stayed up late for most nights just to play Waka-Waka and Pixel Ranger. I would wake up late the next day so I am either late on my first clas and sometimes I would be absent by then. I hate it that I got hooked up. But definitely not now. I have finally overcome it. Haha. I did enjoy but I do admit that it wasted my time. It was not Facebook's fault because I know it was my fault. So I would say that Facebook is not really a waste of time because it is enjoying, but just beware not to get hook up in it so much.

Wow, I'm really impressed that you have a professor who recommends using myLot. What a cool professor!! I guess s/he thinks it's a good way to improve your English, and like you say, also your writing skills. A very wise man! (Or woman). As for Facebook, well it's true that it doesn't pay us to participate, but I would find it difficult to be without it. Nearly all of my Facebook friends are people who I know in "real-life", and for those who live far away it's our main way of keeping in touch. If I didn't use Facebook, then I probably wouldn't be in contact with some of them, or we'd only contact one another very rarely. So no, I don't think it's a waste of time or effort, it makes me very happy! We shouldn't just do things for money, friendship is extremely important too.

Well, every thing must have positive and negative side. For me, the positive sides of facebook are: keep contact with old friends, know what something which is currently 'in' amoung 'our world', sending and receiving photos (this function was very very helpful for me, and also very simple), and spend some times if I ever had. The negative sides for me are : Made me forget about the undone works that need to be done, leak of privacy or private conversation, and we get nothing by spending our time there. =) So, I can't always say that facebook is really a waste of time, nor effort for us. But as long as we use access that wisely, we can decide it ourselves. =)

Ah, facebook. I don't think that it a waste of time - for me, that is. I know there are people that spend all there time on facebook, but some people just go on, check out their friends and play games. Honestly, I only signed up on facebook for one thing: Poker. I couldn't find any other online (in real life the people I know don't like playing poker) multiplayer poker game easily (I was too lazy to search harder) and I found that Facebook has poker on it. So I signed up and play poker occasionally, when I'm bored. Of course, I put my real name on there, but even if my friends find me there will be no information there... I must always be hidden.

hi freedirt^^;;; welcome to mylot, and i do agree with u that mylot is more meaningful when it comes to sharing our ideas and feelings. I have a facebook account for a long time but never updated my profile nor added pictures because i cannot see any privacy settings (or maybe i am missing it). What i mean privacy is that everybody can view my profile of pictures even if they are not in my friends' list. I am afraid that somebody will misuse other profiles and get them exposed Though one thing i like there is that we can meet old friends and classmates that we didn't have any communication for a long time.

I don't think you can really compare facebook and mylot - they are completely different, with different purposes. I don't go on facebook particularly to have discussions, but to keep in touch with friends. I have a lot of friends back in England and family who I can keep up with easily on there, and I have found old friends who I'd lost touch with. I find it a little odd that people are saying its a waste of time, you should be getting on with your real life, when most of us writing are spending a fair bit of time on here!

the two are very different sites. facebook is meant for socialising with those you know. it allows you to share much more than just words with friends. you can post videos and pictures with tags as well you can put in widgets and apps. mylot is mostly discussion. its generally better than forums because it pays but it lacks specialization which forums usually have.

My mom got me connected with facebook and I love it. I get to see updates on friends that I am not living close to. I get to play games and right now one of them is a competition with my boyfriend. We are always trying to gain more levels than the other. I love Mylot. I have been here for a while. My main intentions wasn't the money, but a way that I could post my questions and responses without the judgment of the people in my community or my family. I don't waste money on either site because that isn't required of me.

I just started using Facebook, and I really enjoy it. I have reconnected with several old friends and it has been great. It is a good place to reconnect and visit and also if your going to waste time on the internet it seems like a good place to do so.

I've used facebook before and i can honestly say i wasted all my time. There was no real point in using it, all my friends on facebook are probably ppl i already know in real life or already on my msn, Facebook was just a way to communicate but msn already existed so I guessed i wasted time. And for games, those are a definate waste of time, I probably wasted 2+ hours on that restaurant game. I feel so stupid. Now people are playing that farmville game, I hope they realize what they could be doing instead.

Yes, from where I stand, It is really a waste of time when people spend a lot of time on Facebook. With the popularity of Facebook, more and more people are becoming its users and spend much time there. I have heared that some people are addicted to he relationship of Facebook. At the same time, they pay less attention to their job, thrie children and their family. However, myLot is really a place where people can make friends with others, improve themselves with the help of all myLotters. Also, you can get some eatra money if you are interested in it. So, keep away from Facebook and enjoy a better time in your real life other than the virtual friendship on Facebook.

hi there, Mylot is undoubtedly a good site. however, facebook is not bad by itself, it helps people socialize with and old friend and promotes friendship with new acquaintance as well. Summarily, its not plain waste of time.

A reader of my blog asked me the same question. So, I can answer you as I did with him. Facebook has a lot of good and bad things, and everything depends on us. Why it has good thing? First, using Facebook we can be linked with our friends, also the ones that are fare away, and we can see what they are going to do the next week-end and we could even decide to go out with them! That is really god, it is a good way to communicate and organize our social life, that, I remember, is really important. Why has it bad things? Because when we stay online in Facebook too much, we can do what the website was created for: comunicate and make grow our social life. And that is the important thing to socialize, and I guess it is also important for other website: that we spend more time outside =)
