Hello Jugsjugs, I have my hub who likes to eat spicy food a lot. His favorite food are all kinds of spicy food. He can cook spicy crabs very well. But for me, I can not stand too spicy food. I must need to drink plenty of water if I eaten too spicy food. My daughter get my gene too. If my spoon touched spicy food before and got the same spoon to feed her, she will shout out loud for water.

To answer your question here, Spicy foods are said to help rev up ones metabolism and the faster your metabolism, the more weight you will lose. Furthermore, studies have shown that people who eat spicy foods eat smaller portions which can cut your calories way back. But of course I know anything beyond a particular limit is harmful for sure. Thanks

eating spicy food to loose weight? well that is funny and creative. The use of spices in heavy quantity or light is not an indicative factor on loss of weight, on the other hand it has been known to cause gall blotter and kidney stones.

I have read that spicy foods do help you to keep thin. For two different reasons one being obviously that spicey food is hot and it takes longer to eat and is more difficult to eat so you don't eat as much even if you like it a lot most people have to eat spicy food more slowely or else pay the price, and eating slower allows enough time for the feeling full trigger to happen in yur stomach. Also you drink a lot when eating spicey foods so if you are drinking water which has not calories or fat as you are eating spicy food you will likely consume a lot of water that will fill you up. Also spicey foods have been said to rev up your matabilism, it is like a furnace the heat turns something on and gets things going.

i really haven't heard about that theory. maybe it is just a coincidence that she eats a lot of spicy things and herself being thin. maybe she is cautious with what she eats. there are a lot of fattening foods and maybe, she shies away from them if not, regulates her eating them. eating spicy foods make one drink a lot of water and when u drink lots of water, it already fills u up and u don't like to eat some more because u feel full already. hmmm, must be the reason why u don't get fat and stay slim because food intake is lessened as the tummy is filled with water? just thinking aloud, lol (is there truth to it that eating lots of spicy foods can lead one to get hemorrhoids?)

In fact, the strong and hot spices make you thirsty, so you need to drink much water, and hence, you have to go to the WC after that many times. It's the dehydrations that take the energy as well as the nuritives out of your body, so you might lose weight. I think this method may help, but it's not good for your health.

Hello jj. I read somewhere on the Internet that eating spicy food helps losing weight, but I am not so sure about its truth. I love to eat spicy food as well, but most times it is not really spicy as the food from the school canteen is not that spicy.

I have thought this for awhile but I don't know if its documented or not. I love spicy foods to and the hotter the better to me. I'm also thin. I just think that the spicy foods helps in getting rid of the fat cells. Plus it kills germs and clears sinus problems.

I have heard that this works also. It is not a cure all, but there is some sort of chemical in spices like paprika and chilli powder that help you burn calories faster. It worked for me when I was trying to lose weight.

i used to eat a lot of spicey food, can't now coz it makes me feel really ill, maybe thats why i used to have a 22in waist and now it's 30+,i was talking bout this a few months ago with someone,my theory is that because the spice is hot your body speeds up to cope with the spiceyness and that could possibly lead to weight loss, coz your bodies working overtime
