I don't really like eating onions because of its pungent taste. But I have some friends way back then who like eating fresh onions, and salad with much onions. But there are lots of benefits eating onions as the saying goes "an onion a day keeps a stomach cancer away," aside from that onion could help maintain healthy bones just like milk, it boost our immune system, it's good treatment for anemia because it contain high in iron and a lot more healthy benefits. Do you like eating onions? If you, how often do you eat?

I like eating onions and I guess I eat them every day. Mostly I eat them cooked with a meal, and they don't taste so pungent. But I don't mind them raw from time to time. I think worse than eating them, is preparing them. Always lots of runny tears.. - Derek

Yeah, you're right, that's why I don't chop onions unless it was frozen. When it comes to eating with it, I could eat cooked ones but just little and raw onions, no way! Thank you for sharing with us and enjoy your day!

I like eating onions but avoid eating too much. I prefer it raw, I think it's better that way, not only I get all the benefits compared to cooked ones.

Yeah, there's a difference when it comes to health benefits from raw and cooked onions. It's much better to eat raw onions if you can and like the taste. And still onions is better to be taken with moderation despite all the healthy benefits we can get. You're right by avoiding too much eating of it. Anyway thank you for sharing with us and enjoy your day!

I love onions just as much as I love garlic. I do eat onions in fresh spinach salads but I prefer french onion soup and when onions are cooked. I don't mind the smell mainly because I refrigerate the onions sometimes to lessen the force.I am surprised that people can really eat onions directly they were apples.I do that with tomatoes but the too mch onion can start to taste really strange.

Yeah, there are those people who can directly eat raw onions. I'd seen that on my friends and they said it's yummy! When I even found it hard to eat cooked onions. Well I think people get used on that.

No, not usually. I didn't care for them when I was growing either. If they had to be in my food I preferred them to be chopped up. LOL I don't mind them quite so much now, but would rather avoid them when I can. I know they are good for me and all, but I just never acquired a taste for them. Happy mylotting!

I know a couple of people that love to eat onions like we eat apples. I don't get how they can handle that. Too spicy for me. And they don't even shed tears! Now, grill or sautee the onions and I'm all over that! Onion rings/blossoms are the bomb. If the onion is raw though, it had better be deep in a savory dish like menudo. Sometimes I can't even eat something that has touched onions because all i taste is the onion. I want to like them though. Maybe I should start with shallots and red onions and work myself up gradually. Is there a big difference between shallots and other onions?

My brother eats onions like they are apples... I think that is disgusting! I personally like onions on very few things. A burger and my chili 3 ways. At least those are the only ways I like onions fresh. I love onions in my stir frys and such meals like that. I didn't always like onions. When I was a child I had a nervous fit whenever my mom served onions. I don't know when my taste grew more accustomed to them, but I don't mind them as much anymore. Just don't cut them around me. My eyes will swell shut!

I like onion but only if they are grilled onion so the taste is not to pungent. I do not eat onions very often anymore. I used to eat lots of grilled onions when we went out to eat but they started charging even if they are just grilling the just the raw onion you they are going to give you with your sandwich. I do not know why though it only takes maybe 1 minutes to grill the onion.

Hi careguarden Hehehe.. you just like one of my friend, if she eat onion not purposely, she will lost her appetite in food because, she says, it's pungent and she hate its smell. Well, for me, I love onion! SOmetimes when I'm sick and lost my appetite in food, I will add some slices of raw onion and it's really help. When I eat satay in ketchup sauce, in my country there will be onion in it, and I make sure that I ask more onion to the seller. Then, in home my and my brother will have a little fight to eat up that onion in soy sauce with satay,,hmm, it yummy But I don't like garlic! I don't have any schedule when to eat, but surely I'll love it if it's there in my food, either it's salad, burger, or traditional food from my country.

Raw onions are not only very healthy for you, but also extremely good!!! The best way to eat them is to load them onto a hot dog (any kind, but chili dogs are really good this way) and just munching away. I try to eat onions about two or three times a week. I'd do it a lot more often, if not for that one terrible side effect: bad breath!! That is not a myth, as some will tell you. If it's for the yummy taste of onions, though, then I'm willing to give up an afternoon's minty fresh breath.

Onions bring a lot of flavoring to what ever savory dish that you cook, trust me, onions make a difference. What i love to do is do a marinade with the onions and then grill them, very tasty.

I love onions. Had raw onions tonight on enchiladas, fried onions and mushrooms earlier this week. I don't think there is a way to fix them that I don't like them!

I do, but the problem with eating onions is that it leaves a very bad breath, and this has to be compensated by chewing a chewing gum. You're right, it does have a lot of medicinal benefits and like onions, most other bitter vegetables have similar characteristics. I think you should start by having a bite and then gradually increase your intake. This way, you may not really find it disgusting.

Oh! - I like it because of that pungent taste that burns my nostrils. I feel my nostrils are cleaned up without me doing any gold digging. I eat it everyday thru some vegetable or the other. But raw is special favorite with green pepper and lots of lime, and some salt and some corriander and cumin poder. Tastes good. Add puffed rice in large quantities to this, and i can watch television for hours without bothering how many thieves have come in and left with things. :)

hi caregarden^^;; i like onions. i have adopted the taste when i was in college when my mother used to prepare it with tomatoes by mincing them both. Now, i do like it with my burgers and salads. There's this traditional Korean food called samgyeopsal, a thin-sliced fresh pork like bacon, grilled and wrapped into lettuce with sauce, onions, onion leeks, garlic, and fermented cabbage. it's really a great match and it's healthy to burn those fats of pork when it comes to the bad mouth smell after eating, we can drink some tea and chew some gum to reduce the smell
