I faced this question, once i was in school. One of my teacher asked me the question. His question was " why do we have two ears and one mouth?" Invariably i could not reply. Then he told me the reply. He told me that as we have two ears, so we should listen more and as we have one mouth, so we should talk less. Then he narrated more about this. This world is a very peculiar place. We all want peace. So for ensuring your peace in life, listen more and talk less. If you talk less, you will have less enemy in life. If you can form the habit of listening, you will have more friends in this world.

we need two ears to balance! Also to hear properly and distinguish the distance in sounds! But yes it helps you listen, and hear teh balance of the truth from what you are hearing!

That was absolutely right. It's very important to listen first before speaking. We have two ears so that we can listen much. We only have one mouth so that we can talk less. Aren't you annoyed with people who keeps on talking and not even knowing how to listen? Well that line was for them to see.

The explanation you have mentioned is pretty interesting, but I don't think it is a scentific explanation. In my opinion, it results from the natural selection. Because two ears are the least ears to be able to orient the body which emits sound. We know that sound travels at a finite speed, so it will arrive at two ears at diffent time, according to this time difference our brain can approximately figure out where the sound-emitting body is. But I don't quiet know why we just have only one mouth, maybe it is also the selection of evolution.
