Someone just told me I should sing the whole song completely... I might give it a try but what if you don't know the lyrics of the song? lol!

This happens to me a lot! Does anyone know what the actual scientific explanation for this might be? Wikipedia has it indexed under "Earworm" and there isn't really much of an explanation, just that it's more prevalent with people who suffer from OCD. That's understandable, but what about the rest of us?

No one knows for certain but according to some speculative theories stucks songs may be like stuck thoughts. A temporary failure of our mental control system.

Thanks, jbbelle. How weird! You could try forcing yourself to sing a different song. That works for me sometimes.

Hi Laurie and Jbbelle: thanks for the explanation. I have never consider this point of view but i think this might be the answer we have to deal with a song for a while. In some cases i have got to the point that i don't want to listen this song at all.

Nope, there is no cure. You could try getting a song stuck in your head that is not annoying at least. I hate it when I get an annoying song stuck in my head.

I hate it when I only remember one line of the song and keeps singing it again and again. Lol!

Hi: this happends to me almost everyday. Sometimes it's horrible because i don't really like the song that it's on my head but even with that i love to say that music is an important part on my life even if i'm not a musician

There is only one thing I can think of. Listen to music often. That way at least the last song you hear changes often. Other than that, I think you are stuck! lol just like tge rest of us.

I always get a song stuck in my head unless I haven't been paying attention to the music. All you can do is listen to a song that isn't annoying. Sleeping also cures it.

There is a cure! At least for me there is. If you listen to an entire music album while doing something else. Not paying much attention to the music. Once the album is done playing you wont even notice and there most likely wont be any song stuck in your head. This works for me.
