Let's pray together that we can surpass all the calamities that we are experiencing. Let's bayanihan be alive once again. I don't know why this is happening to us. I hope this coming typhoon change its direction because the people in Luzon are not yet recovered from the past typhoon.

Yes we do have to pray. Actually natural calamities are worldwide. Here in the Philippines we are being flooded and strong storms come one after the other even while the previous flood has not subsided. Yes we can only pray for God's mercy. But apart from praying, let us all learn to evaluate our lives. How have we been living. Have we been setting aside God? Do we only remember God in time of need and disasters like this. Have we been living for the world and not for God? Look at the people around and even ourselves too. During good weather, do we easily forget that there is God who sees us and his eyes is everywhere beholding the evil and the good? This is a sinful world we live in and God's wrath is now being manifested. It is time for us to humble ourselves and depart from our sinful lives and start seeking God. Only He can save us because He is the master of storm and he can calm the tempest at anytime he wants. Jesus Christ holds all of nature together and if he wants he could God stop natural disasters from coming in. Although he is a loving God he also knows how to punish and natural disasters are sometimes judgment against sin. Although not every natural disaster is a punishment from God I believe this typhoons and flooding we are having is a punishments from God. We have not only spoiled this world by our continuous abuse of the nature. Our mountains who used to have trees that hold water and preventing flood are not bald because the greedy people have cut all trees to make money. The people are throwing out garbage here and there. Greedy manufacturers are producing non-biodegradable products without control. We are now reaping the consequences of all these abuses. Aside from this we have also been so forgetful of God and it is about time that we receive punishment so that we can think of God again and repent. So right you are let us pray, but make sure our prayers will be heard by God because Psalm 66:18 says "If I regard iniquity in my heart the Lord will not hear me." There must be a change of heart otherwise, even if people will pray still God will not hear. The people should humbled down and must turn away from wickedness and should start seeking God. 2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

God, that's terrible. I'm so sorry that the people in your country are going through this difficult time. I am thinking of you, your loved ones and your countrymen. I hope that the reports are false and that the typhoon and earthquake will be much less severe than expected, with minimal damage. I will be watching the news to see with my fingers crossed for you all. I hope that if there is damage that my country will send aid. I'm thinking of you.

I'm also from the Philippines and a Christian. The things that are happening in our country right now has a purpose. I just pray that the people affected by the typhoon see what's God's purpose for allowing that to happen.
