MyLot "You Have Mail"

Recieving MyLot Mail - Make sure MyLot is cleared with your spam filter, or you won't be notified of new discussions.

To get good earnings on MyLot, you have to answer discussions from your friends in order for your friends to answer your discussions. (I do this when my iffy health permits.) It can be challenging, especially if you have a slow dial up modem that connects you to the Internet. Here are some tips that I've come up that can help the modem challenged. Although when health won't cooperate, it just won't behave! * 1. In your friends list, there is a function next to each avatar. When "Notify Is On", you will receive an email whenever that friend starts a discussion. * 2. That notification needs to get into your email box. That means, if you have a spam filter, you need to list MyLot as an approved sender or as a 'friend' so your filter won't filter MyLot's messages. * 3. Now, you should probably use, if your on a slow dial up, a text based email client or not allow MyLot to send you images. Most email clients will allow you to decide if you want to receive email in text or HTML. Note, HTML can really slow you down. You can make custom settings in your email client, or the easier option, use a web based client just for your MyLot mail.

Do you actually make more money if you respond to friends than if you respond to others? I have been wondering about that for a while now. I have notify on with certain people because I find they have really good discussions. Should I do it for all to increase my earnings?

Mylot pays equaly for all responses. What matters is the Size and Quality. Write long paragraphs and you get more money. Write it in paragraph form and you get money. Avoid mistakes. Also you earn more if you get more responses to your discussion. If you have posted a comment, you will get paid only if someone else also comments on that comment of yours. Hope this helps. Good Luck. Happy Mylotting!

wow, thanks for that tip. I did not know about the Notifications, so can you can be notified when specific friends post- or is it just in general - "all" your friends on you friends list?

That is quite true- I probably don't pay attention enough to who posts anyway. but I like that idea of turning certain people on- will be checking on that right away- thank you for the information- quite helpful!

Hi minx, just go into your friends list and turn them on by the names of the people you want, you don't have to turn them all on, but remember its a two way thing, they won't be notified of your discussions if you are not notified of theirs. If you have someone you don't want notifiers on for then theres really no point in having them on your list, especially if they bombard with uninteresting stuff.

Each friend has his or her personal notifier, so you can turn off someone who happens to be bugging you or producing mature discussions you don't want six year old Suzie to see in the inbox that day.

This seems to be good information for people who have not got high speed internet. It will help them a lot. We all need to help the newcomers to mylot.

MyLot is graphics intensive and it is slow, even on my cable modem. I keep in mind friends on slower speed Internet access. I used to have just 14.4. * Popup blocker is also critical for everyone, including the slow connectors because there's a lot of crap contained in popups nowadays. They are no longer simply nuisance.

I Really enjoyed the picture, did you create that yourself? I know I haven't seen you on here in awhile, you probably don't even remember my username, I don't think we actually talked that often if at all. In any case, We haven't had to deal with dial up in a very long time.

I've all my notifiers on. However, when my health doesn't permit, (nasty pain condition) I sometimes have to dump everything in the trash that has accumulated. I can end up with over a hundred thousand emails. Any people who's discussions end up there for that reason: I offer a heart felt apology. * The picture is a collage. I cut and pasted tiny photographs I obtained by 'printscreen' and added artwork via a photopaint program.

I've since I had to turn notifiers off. I've done that today as otherwise I would never get to all my emails. I have some 10,000 in gather emails!

hi craftycorner. there are still have other ways to respond to your friends discussions and responding from email notifications do not us real good earnings. we can go to our friends' profiles and browse through their discussions they have started. though it will take sometimes, we can still choose which of their discussions we can relate and therefore, we opt to respond to. by that way, we can also assess how good this friend in creating quality discussions or not. we can do that with a new found friend but which happen to be a long been member, as in a veteran or something. sometimes we encounter old members where it happen that we had just saw them. going though the "notify is on" function, it is a good way to know that our friends have new created discussions and so, we can answer to them at the moment we receive the notification email, specially if we turn on our email program during the time we do mylotting. but it doesn't totally mean that we will get good earnings with it, alone... neil

You have good tips. I have notifications on and, because I don’t receive all my friend’s discussions I also check the ‘friends started’ tab and go from there. Sometimes it’s fun to just browse around and see what’s been posted. Enjoy MyLot!

There is another wat here to get away from the notifier! You can set up your home page here to include a lot of different information, I did this a long time ago and it keeps my mail from my lot to a minimum at the top right you'll see add content, you can add different things there, you should try it get it the way you like it! And then you can turn off the notifiers off! tdemex

Hi crafycorner, I have the notifiers on I think for all of my friends list now and respond to any of their discussions where I have something to say, but not all. I don't expect anyone to respond to all of mine either but there is a lot of two way traffic which means you get to know people a lot better. I also respond to stuff on my homepage which is why I'm here. But if someone continually deluges with 10 churned out discussions in one spate then the notifiers go off as a pelude to deleting that person.

There are chatterboxes who are lonely and can indeed turn out ten discussions a day. Most, you are right, are a cheap plea to earn $$. That's tacky. * There are some 'brainless' discussions on here. They're good for if you are feeling 'brainless' yourself and can't come up with anything deep to say. Sure, my eyes are hazel. My favorite colors are pink and blue. Yep...

Hey thanks crafty. I really get fed up when i view emails from mylot in my inbox coz my net speed is very slow. Few times my system simply hangs out when i'll load more than 4 websites at a time.
