For the past weeks now I've been toying with the idea that it is about time to migrate to another country. I believe that our country is no longer safe to live and raise a family. Here we will surely starve if we don't work hard. Even if we do, we are not compensated accordingly.
Now, here I am doing my research, looking for the best country where I can transfer to. To all my fellow mylotters, I need your suggestions here.

well as others have said I think Canada and Australia are still options to look into,Also besides these country I also think Norway is another good option beacuse I just made a recent research and discovered that Norway is one of the countries of the world with peace and also job opportunities for those who are ready to work and also with professional backgrounds, I am actually thinking of making a trip there to see if I might get an opportunity in the construction sector as a civil engineer.
Moreover I would suggest you make a personal research on other countries too, because there are still some countries in the world where some states or places in these countries are seeking for workers and professionals who would like to take up jobs in their country, and these countries are peaceful too and good to live in. so I would say you make an investigation and see which country is suitable for you and will have opportunities that you are looking for and also an area where you can live in peace with your family, where also you can gain enough to take care of your family. These are my suggestion.

It is impressive to see that Norway is also a highly recommended country. So far I haven't heard any bad news involving this country, sounds like a peaceful country. I just wonder if they provide opportunities for people coming from a third-world country.

From where I stand, it really depends what matters to you for there are many factors that determine your final decision.
For most people, both Australia and Canada are proper choice. The economies of both countries are far stronger than the USA and they are both far better and happier countries to live in with better social welfare, universal healthcare, opportunity for all and all of the freedoms that Americans seem to think are exclusive to their country.
Of course, the country isn't the issue, it's where you will find a great job. You should work out a position somewhere and get a work visa and take it from there.

I think Canada, UK, New Zealand and Switzerland are the best countries to live in. The air is still fresh there and there are lots of opportunities there. I still prefer to live here in the Philippines no matter what. Even if life here is difficult I still prefer to live here for the rest of my life.

It breaks my heart because of course there's no place like home. This is going to be a major major decision so I must think it over a hundred times.
Yesterday I tried researching job opportunities in teh POEA website. I've seen a lot of opportunities. I am now considering to test teh coast first. I can go there with a working visa at first. If I will like it, I can decide then.

If you can let me know which country your from that could help me understand the situation your running away from. As for moving to another country it all depends what you are looking for. Are you looking for a country with lots of employment opportunity in manual labor or office work? Do you want a quiet country where your child will have a nice upbringing? Is climate important to you? Do you like it cold or hot weather? These are just some questions to help me narrow down the locations I could suggest. In general, I think I would tell you to move to Australia if possible. They seem to have some good employment opportunities, good weather, and nice people. I have never been there myself, but I have a couple of friends who live in Australia and this is what they tell me. Hope this helps.

I am not migrating because I love my homeland. But in your case, since you want our views, mine would be Norway. I like the sceneries there. Besides being up north, it's cooler than most part of the world.
Maybe the cost of living will be much higher, but think of the standard you will get there. Just my two sense of thoughts.

Try in Canada. There are many Filipinos living there and they say that it is a wonderful country. They have medical insurance, free education for their children, pension and a lot more. There are immigration consultants that can assist you to get a job and live in Canada.

The consultants will guide you all through out your venture and would make the immigration process easier. Though embassy is good, you may have a lot of questions that the embassy would not all answer. I suggest that you find a consultant that have could completely assist you and would charge you cheaper than $3k.

Good thing you mentioned about immigration consultants. The other day, I attended a seminar and had myself assessed. I passed. The sad part is, she charges $3,000,000. So now, I am researching on other ways.
My friend of mine suggested to go directly to the embassy. This way I can cut 3K from my expenses. I am just wondering though, will I have the chance if I bypass the services of a consultant?

Where are you from? Have you considered Singapore..? Although here, the standard of living is quite high, but it's a pretty safe country. There are crimes, of course, but you can safely walk in the malls and not be scared so much. But of course, during weekends, some malls can be crowded, and for those working shifts, will find weekdays to have some freedom in to move around in the malls. How about Europe..? I don't know much about other countries, so I can't advice you there..

It is very difficult to pinpoint a single country regarding which we can say whether it is the best country to migrate. An individual can have different reasons to migrate to a different country. Some cases come to my mind:
1) People from all over the world migrating to US, UK, France, Switzerland, Spain, Austria, Germany to study in some very good universities such as Cambridge, Harvard, Oxford, Carnegie Mellon etc, or earn a lot of money, or work at good places. Also, to lead a much more comfortable life than what they can have in their native place.
2) People from Asia also prefer Singapore, or Japan to go to earn more, or live a comfortable life.
3) People moving to Scandinivian countries -Sweden, Norway, Finland or to countries such as NewZealand which offer a peaceful and relaxed life. However, these countries might not offer too many jobs.
4) People coming to India, China and other "Oriental" countries for peace of mind, and spiritual pursuits. These people might already be having lots of money and very good lifestyle, still they feel as if they are lacking something.
There could be other places, where different people might be migrating for their own reasons, or may be they have been told that such places offer good life.
There are thousands(even millions) of people worldwide, who are duped by travel and placement agents, promised to be send to their land of dreams. Such people are caught in transit for illegal attempts to move into a country, and many live horrible lives, without much resources thereafter.
Many such cases have been heard about European countries.

I love my country, the United States, but if I were ever to move to another country, I would choose Canada. I have visited it and I have read many good things about it.
My own country is in desperate need of healthcare for all, and now education is suffering, as well. Canada addresses these issues far better than we have to date. I sincerely hope that improves here, but it remains to be seen.
I've also read good things about a select few places in Mexico that are great economically for retired people.
Good luck with such a major decision.

I was going to say Australia but being an Aussie myself and seeing how many boats with assylum seekers and people trying to enter my country illegally......I would suggest anywhere but here please. I'm sure you won't starve if you work hard, but if you want the easy life and don't want to do much for it I would suggest Hollywood!

The best country to migrate to is Australia. It is a large country with varied landscapes. The people are really friendly. The climate is pleasant. It is a safe location to live in. I know New Zealand would be another great choice. It has a lovely landscape which is really unspoilt. The climate is lovely in summer but cool for the rest of the year.

Hi Ip,
If I decide to migrate to another country it would be the United States, because it's where my mother lives and my husband currently works, and I have lots of friends and relatives there, so homesickness won't be much of a problem. Some of my friends want to go to New Zealand, because (they say) it's one of the best places to be if you want employment, clean air, and kind nature. Well it really depends on the reason for migrating, try to weigh all the pros and cons before making such a big decision. Wish you good luck.
