Serious Issue - Copy/pasting articles and posting them on MyLot.... DONT!

I see more and more people copy/pasting articles literally from the internet. I am here to tell you right here and now not to do that. Everybody can see it is an article ripped from the internet, this results in a limited amount of people willing to respond. Furthermore it makes discussing pretty impossible and last and worst: If people find out you're copying articles, which is pretty easy, you're very likely to be screwed... Thanks for your attention

Some people try to seek for shortcuts to earn money. MyLot is no exception, here it mostly occurs by creating lots of discussions in no time, sometimes about the most useless subjects. If they already get an occasional response they don't even react, or they do but barely readable. MyLot doesn't reward these things which results in people being disappointed and a loss of reputation.

If they are not reported it also results in honest users earning less!

I still do not understand why the copying and pasting of discussions is so popular, though. You don't earn for the discussion itself, or for the number of responses, but you earn from your participation in the discussion, i.e. commenting on the responses. Therefore, what does the copying and pasting of the discussion really accomplish?

I just earned the right to copy and paste today, but I still will not be copying anyone else's material either from the Internet or from other sources. That is just wrong. Besides, I have a pretty distinctive writing style, as do a lot of people, so I think that it would be very easy to tell if my discussions weren't my own.

Thanks MysD. It took a while, but I finally made it. I guess that being unique has its perks either way, huh? On the other hand, I have seen some people on here that have a similar writing style to mine, such as Dogg, and that is a little freaky. Well, the style might not be as similar, but the humor and word usage is quite eerily similar. I think that is why we gravitate towards each other, though.

I have seen about 3 such postings today. I don't know why people can not think enough for themselves & have to just copy it. sad really

I trust you used the (!) button to report them? Unless they are reported and stopped, those cheaters are gaining earnings which should go to honest users!

Yes! It's called PLAGIARISM if I am not mistaken. Everyone should not do that because it will show that you are a fool person, who doesn't have your own ability to do thing even writing the article. Even your article is full of mistakes, but it's yours. And people respect your hard work. So don't just copy the other people's work and paste here or somewhere else to be your own!!

Yeah, i saw it in many discussion and it turn out other members copy the articles word for word without when linking it to the page of the sites where they copy it and they already presume they have the right. Plagiarism is rampant here and many get uses to it as for a long times they already abuses the copy and paste function ,hence some are lazy to make their own discussion which is very annoying from other members who try hard to come out with their own quality discussion and yet only are appreciated.

Well, it is nothing we can do here but try to be observant on the kind of posts. I even saw some discussions being copied in the blogs of the other social site I am with. Worst is, it is another persons blog. I don't know why some people were able to make such thing. Maybe out of ignorance or intentionally spamming.

They're doing these things because they want to earn money quick, the funny part is they fail.

That doesn't really apply here since copy/pasting isn't really appreciated here. But I do understand the dilemma.

There is also the scenario where the writer has a different user name on another site and he is copying his own material onto mylot. You would think he's plagiarizing but he is not.

Oh and did they tell you that that discussion and that includes are liable to be deleted so if you get notify email, it will say 'this discussion is no longer --because it violated myLot guidelines. And sad to say, sometimes a discussion where someone copied and pasted might have gotten around 50 to 100 replies before it is responded and if he commented on all the responses, or she as it were, then there wold be a lot of upset myLotters.

I find that I assume the person is an experienced author and wrote it himself or herself. Some people are very dishonest and pretend that they wrote it and if they go and on, then we will assume that they are the actual author. And it makes us ma when we find out they stole it from some other source.

I've experienced a few times before that during me writing a response and actually submitting a response, the discussion would be removed, which is very annoying so that's why it is important to just follow the rules otherwise people will become mad really...

Really, what pleasure do they find in stealing others' articles? It's a pretty breach of copyright... And here I'm, totally confused of what to do with privilege I got post 500! LOL I use it just to safeguard my posts or to quote someone... A slow connection makes you honest!

I dont think people should do that it takes too long to read them and most people probably arent going to take the time besides you should technically get permission from whoever you took the article from. It isnt anything that I plan to do but I could do it sometime. It is not impossible for me to do.

Mylot staff is probably aware of the problems already. The best bet we have is reporting each and every discussion/post that is against the rules.

hi diamania I have seen a few myself and wonder why they bother as most of us do know better, and we cannot respond as the discussion could get deleted and we would just lose points. Also there is a big issue of using someone else's work and that is also not good, nor legal either.Again some people do not read the rules and that's so silly.

hi diana thats so stupid and that is also showing that the person has no imagination of their own that they have to' just copy an article instead of reading it and telling us 'about it in their own words. Also as most more experienced mylotters will not respond to this they are losing out all the way round. We know better as the discussion will ultimately be 'deleted and we would just lose well needed points.

Really, since I have had the ability to copy and paste, I have not used it much at all. I would rather type. The only time if I am using the copy and paste is if there is a website I want to refer people to that is relating to the topic of discussion. For me to do that, it is rare.

Referring people to websites related to the topic at hand is perfectly fine.

there is one section on here where several people do this all the time - they don't even bother paraphrasing (which is also plagiarism) and it is blindingly obvious because that is not how they write.
