So I bought a mango today - for the first time! Now I'm sure I've eaten mango before in mixes or something, I just don't recall. So what I'm wondering is how you eat a mango? Do you have to peal it or is eating the skin ok? And do you just chop it up??
Curious as to how you Mylotters eat them!

I am an authority on the subject as I have several yielding mango trees in my garden. There are several ways on how a mango is eaten.Slice off the stem and then you can peal it as you would an apple, cut the cheeks off from both sides. You will get the stone with flesh on both sides (with the cheeks removed) which you need to slice off again. Do not throw away the stone but chew it as chewing it is enjoyable. You can slice the two cheeks that I mentioned whichever way you like. Ofcourse there is another way but clumsy and which is bite off a tiny piece of the skin on top and suck away the mango. There is yet another way and that is make an incision around the middle all round till the incision reaches the stone with both hands twist the two portions. They will come off leaving the stone with flesh which you can chew off. Remember to have a handful of tissues as eating a mango is quite clumsy affair.

Do not eat the skin. There is a pit in the middle. What I do is cut strip of the mango and eat it like that, or I cut it in squares and put it in a bowl and eat it that way. Enjoy, mangos are one of my favorite fruits.

Hi Jen,
I love mangoes!
It's one of my favorite fruit. You have to peel its skin and eat it. I like putting some cream (all purpose cream) to it and we sometimes add it on desserts. I love mango pie. You can also make a mango shake out of it. Just add some milk and sugar! That would be so yummy!

Hi jennlk84.
In my country mango is a common fruit and I always eat it after lunch.
Of course you don't need to eat the skin.
I rarely see people eat with the skin.
You just peel and eat it just like that.
Or you can chop it into slices.

No, eating the mango skin is not okey at all, even if you wash it very well, using the ultimate detergents and so on to get rid of the harmful things the skin may hold. Just peal it and then eat holding the whole fruit, don't chop or anything. It fells so good! The trick is to spatter your mouth with its juice.
