What's The Strangest Thing That Ever Occurred To You On Halloween

I realize that by now, for many people Halloween is winding down, the kids who went trick o'treating are probably home by now and full of all the goodies they got and probably nothing strange occurred. But have you ever had a Halloween experience you just couldn't explain? As you may know the belief is, is that on Halloween the veil between the worlds is the thinest, and the dead can mingle amongst the living. It was Houdini himself, a great believer in the metaphysical hoped to "come back" on Halloween...never did though. In many cultures, particularly Latino, it is the tradition to go to the cemeteries where the departed loved ones are, and stay the night, brining food to celebrate the night away and to be near their deceased ones. Two years ago, an odd occurrence happened to me, which unfortunately has never been repeated but am still hoping. I've been subject to unexplained "paranormal" experiences before so nothing freaks me out...LOL A few days before Halloween of 2007, one of my friends who adopted one of my cats, named Footie sadly told me he had gone to Rainbow Bridge. I was only allowed to keep two cats otherwise be evicted, so Lisa had taken Footie in 2006. (Many of my friends know about my "cat" story so don't need to repeat it here). Well now he had passed on, and naturally I felt grief as he was a wonderful baby and just plain wish I didn't have to give him up. So that Halloween, as is the custom with me, and being a follower of the wiccan/pagan path, set up my special Halloween (Samhain) table, with candles, incense burner and all my other wiccan paraphernalia and even decorated it with small pumpkins, a witches figurine, stuffed small black cats with witches hats, and fake fall leaves...all to give a special touch to it. Then of course, remembering about the veil between worlds being thinest and that Halloween is a celebration of the departed I wanted to do something in memory of not only Footie, but ALL my cats that are now in Rainbow Bridge. So I also added a small dish to the table with some cat food on it. Now here's the setting...I go to the living room..my bedroom which is where I set up my special Halloween/Samhain table is right behind me and I can see into it as it's more an alcove with an arch (meaning no door)....So in my living room is my computer and I'm sitting in front of it...right next to the computer desk is my sofa and my two cats are sleeping on the top of the sofa...in other words they are in plain sight of me the whole time and neither moved the whole time. After awhile I had to go into the bedroom to get a book that was there, so get up, go in grab the book and as I'm on my way out I look at the table and my jaw dropped. The dish with the cat food was completely EMPTY--yes folks I swear this is true..and like I said my two cats never, ever moved within sight of me. Now instead of freaking out, all I could do was smile since I firmly believe that night, I was visited by my cat Footie and who knows, maybe a few others that are no longer with me. And it's not only Halloween when I swear I've been visited by my former cats...every once in awhile out of the corner of my eye I see movement, or even hear a sound like a cat jumping down from a high place...and yet, when I check, my two living cats are sound asleep. Well tonight, as usual I have my special table set up,...it's still set up and it's 11:51 p.m. as I write this, but unfortunately I haven't been visited this year nor was I last year by my furbabies...it only happened in 2007. Okay to make this a discussion. Have you ever had a strange unexplained "paranormal" occurrence happen to you on Halloween? And for you pet owners....have you ever felt the presence of one of your former "babies" that are no longer in this world?

i didn't experience any strange during halloween. if there will be any strange thing can happen it may happen any time as i have experienced once before spotting a ghost but it was not halloween . i was a place known to be full of ghosts and other strange sightings. and so i don't believe that halloween is some special day for ghosts and strange things to happen. if something strange things happen in halloween cause some people expect to experience it during this time and so the ghosts just give them what they are looking for.

True it's just that many feel that paranormal activity, including ghost activity seems to occur more at around Halloween than at any other time

nope never have on haloween. BUt sometimes I do think my Fang is here in the puter room with me for this is where he spent his last months. One time I jumped out to go out the door and I did a sidestep for it seemed like he was laying there and sometimes I think he has put his head on my lap. He has been gone to the Rainblw Bridge for 2 years now

It's nice to think that the spirits of our furbabies are still with us from time to time, isn't it?

I had a weird occurance on halloween when I was about 16. My girlfriends and a couple of other friends went up to this cemetery that we enjoyed visiting. It was an old military cemetary. It was open then and you could go inside. We noticed there was another car and ventured in to see who else was there. There were three college aged gals in there looking at names on the stones. We started a conversation and found that one of the three young women had had a dream and saw this very cemetery and some names had come to her as well. One of the three happened to be a local resident and she recalled this particular cemetery because the names including a Sgt. and military men's names. So we go along and watched what happened. Going down one row they came across five names that the girl had named one right after another. It was so weird.I will never forget that. The one girl had never been to this cemetery before and had just had this weird dream that very night just a short time before venturing to this cemetery.

As Alice says...creepy. I wonder why the woman was "given" that dream and the names of those men that had been in the military---was she related to any of them??

Hi pye, There has been something strange happening to me of late, I have been feeling sort of brush by my legs but when I look down there is nothing ther, my Baby is always sleeping on my hubby's foot stool and my Tom is upstaires asleep in the spare room near my Altar so I am on my own here, I have felt it quite often and a few days ago a medium has told me that black and white cat with a bit of brown under her tummy is with me and she is my guide, he also mantioned her name, it was Boots my adorable cat who had gone to rainbowbride many years ago has come back to be my animal spirit guide, I was so happy, but nothing happened last night, the only thing strange that I swa last night was when we were standing outside to have a ciggey, we saw this very large circle round the moon, I know there is a aura round the moon but this is very different and no one had seen anything like it before, so I said, well it could be the witches circle, just then we saw something within the circle, it was a jet plane but my friend says its a witch, well it could have been and we were all dressed up in our witches outfit, lol it was fun. Bright Blessings. Tamara

Sometimes when I'm sitting on the floor in front of the tv (yes I sit on the floor instead of the sofa...LOL) I often feel something brush against me as well--I think it's one of my cats, but when I look to see who it is, no one is there. That's beautiful to think your Boots is now your animal guide

I haven't had anything strange happen specifically on Halloween, but I have had my share of strange events, especially where departed pets are concerned. Sometimes I think the veil separating our world and theirs is thinner than the veil separating us from people who have passed. My cat DC passed two years ago and every so often I hear her voice and once I felt her rub against my ankle (which is something she always did while I was having my morning coffee). When these things happen, like you, I check the other pets...and they are always sleeping. I'm most apt to experience something when I'm upset. She was always in tune to my moods and was very comforting to me at those times, and I think she still is. It's wonderful that Footie and perhaps other former pets visit you. I very much think it's their way of letting us know that they are ok, and love is still there.

The visit in 2007 may be tied to how upset and sad you were at the time, as you had just found out about Footie's passing. Pets who are able to sense sadness in their family/people members in life, probably do not lose that ability just because they've crossed the rainbow bridge. If you are ever feeling exactly the same way on another Halloween, I wouldn't be surprised if you received another visit.

when I was about 10, someone had thrown a bucket of water out of the upstairs window, and tried to get us wet. We don't know why, but our neighbor was pissed off and kicked the door. I'll never forget it.

I don't have any strange Halloween stories. But I am glad you furbabies came back to visit you that year. I set up my alter as well this year and even did some divination. I feel spiritally better this year after setting up the alter. Happy Samhain to you.

I've had a ghost kitty snuggle up to me in bed from time to time, not necessarily on Hallowe'en. The other day, I was visiting a new neighbor who seems to have stirred up a ghost... This new neighbor is Wiccan, so I guess she's more attuned to that sort of thing than the previous occupants of 16 years. Anyway, she was telling me about seeing this old man go up the stairs and other odd things happening. like a shelf being thrown across the room, when we heard something loudly fall or drop in the other room. The cat beside me heard it too (she sat straight up with a startled look on her face). The other two cats were where they had been sleeping. We went to investigate but nothing was amiss.

oh yes..i know my blue is still here. even as a shadow in the corner of my eye, there's no mistaking that barrel chested silhouette. one halloween years ago,we had nails come down from the middle of the ceiling in the dining room and plink on the table. modern nails-my house was constructed with square head iron ones. so,i have no idea who or what dropped them there.

My goodness Pye that is amazing!!! I’ve had a few paranormal experiences but as far as I can remember none have ever happened on Halloween and the majority of them occurred while I was living in my friend’s house ages before I met my husband so I don’t know if I was more susceptible at that time in my life or if it had something to do with the house or both. It may be both because the first ‘vision’ I had happened before I moved in with my friend. Sadly I have never seen any of my departed fur babies but I know they are still around.

There's one book I got sometime ago, and am still on and off reading...it's called "Ghost Cats" by Dusty Rainbolt...it filled with stories of people who have experienced the presence of former cats no longer around--highly recommend it--in fact a fellow mylotter (ElicBxn) story is in there

Luckily this year we didn't have any strange going's on, other then our pain in the butt neighbors move away from the rental property. But I was waiting for it this year. But nothing happened. Lucky me. Last year just before Halloween, we had 3 ghost's that were seen here in the house. In fact it was strange because I thought my son was taking a nap in my daughter's bed, he wasn't. Instead there had been a small boy laying in my daughter's bed. When I looked again they were gone. Two day's before Halloween last year I was pushed down the stairs by a white mist, my kid's saw it but I never saw it.

Does your home have a history of ghosts? And three yet! You weren't hurt were you when you were pushed? I actually had some kind of "presence" but in this case it was to literally save my life. I was crossing the street one time and this car out of nowhere comes zooming top speed right at me. All of a sudden I felt this gigantic push causing me to get out of harms way otherwise if I hadn't, that car would have run me over. When I looked around to see who had pushed me...yes, you can guess...no one was there.

Well I can tell you that I know for sure someone tried to kidnap me twice when I was a teen in the same week, there were a few stories about kids going missing, and two different people tried to get me, one offered me a ride, and then one tried to get me to come closer and closer so I could give directions, so I know I woulda been one of them kids if I hadn't ran.

Good thinking on your part not to get caught and yes no doubt you would have wound up kidnapped
