What are you NOT going to talk about?

I just saw a discussion about a person's bowel movement. They weren't trying to gross anyone out, they weren't asking about other people's excretions, they were earnestly explaining the problem they had been having and the results of their work to "fix" the problem. I understand completely people can talk about whatever they want, so this post isn't about bashing anyone. Thinking back to another forum that is not mylot, but somewhat similar, a lady is constantly talking about how many prescriptions she is on, and how fun it is to get buzzed while on the prescription drugs because mixed together it feels better than getting drunk. She has a life, a family, and a new baby. But I keep thinking, do you really want to tell people this? So keeping in mind that I'm not bashing anyone (because I don't need anyone telling me we all are different, everyone should feel open...blah blah blah, I know that), expressing oneself's is therapeutic, but what are you never going to be talking about on mylot?

For me I wouldn't response to a discussion about accidents with the mutilating body parts and stuff like that. Have an experience with it already when a person was hit by a 10 wheeler truck. And every time I heard of something person in a road accident, the memories flashes back.

I do not want to hear about anyone's bowel movements, yuck. Can't believe some of the info people put on here anyway. I am not going to talk about mine or of any bodily functions i have. I think it gross when people do this.

Oh good. I'm not the only one who thought the bowel movement was outrageous. And the funny part is, I don't think they thought people would see it as gross.

They need to get a life if that's all they can talk about or all they have to do trying to gross someone out.

I try to skip the political and religion topics. Nobody ever changes anyone's mind. Every now and then I feel like I have to my input in there though.

Yeah BM's that's something I wouldn't talk much about however it would depend on te context like you said. Like another forum I host a board on there & if someone is say 7 mo's pg & they are "backed up" and need suggestions that's one thing. It's another to be talking about it descriptivally. And along the lines of BM there was a nasty movie hubby heard about and found it online..... and that's all the further I"m going to mention about BM's. I don't agree with the perscription person you mentioned either. It's one thing if you are injured but it's another to brag about what your meds do to you in such a manner & if that's the case the person either has a "problem" or needs to consult their Dr for a combination or doseage to make them feel more "normal" not messed up. Other things I don't care to talk about are.... religion : mainly because I usually end up in a conversation with someone who is well versed in their faith and unwilling to accept someone elses intrepretation of things even if there my not be a right or wrong answer to it. There is one more but I don't know if it is a guideline violation but it conflicts most people morals, faith, ect......

I think that the lady who posted that discussion should have confided that problem to a close friend. some things should not be posted and in my opinion that was one of them. I would not discuss anything too personal - I can't think of any other category. Blessings

Nice. seasonal avatar, Ambie! Hopefully your spirits are blossoming...and you are nearly devoid of pain! Sadly, I am from the "old school" and not nearly as forthcoming as a lot of person's today...not that I feel that it is wrong, just my uncomfort with topics I feel are personal! Even in a cyber world, where I am a virtual "name only" I don't want my personna to be aligned with what I truly believe "best friend" topics! Therefore, I am "mum" on quite a few subjects! Take care, dear girl..and Cheers!

I like you for some of those same reasons. You're wise enough to know what is worth speaking of, and what is not. You're just a great person overall, my friend.

WOW....Ambie, talk about making some-one's day! Thank you! And right back, at you, as I seem to be drawn to person's of some restrictive convenants on diatribe! I feel that if I could sit down and talk to you, and it was a subject that needed broaching, it would be done with articulation & class! Once again, Ambie, thank you...and please have a spectacular weekend!

Probably anything I'd save for a doctor when it comes to too personal of bodily functions. Even this persons topic is something I wouldn't share, I am more of a modist person.

hello Ambie, i guess talking about bowel is a NO-no most specially if some other people are sensitive to it. it's best to avoid topics that you feel annoyed and irritated at. maybe the best thing that i shouldn't about now a days is my own personal like and probably problems that i am encountering. i tried to post that one big sensitive problem in m discussion but i hesitated knowing that i might regret it some day. i know people had gone a bit personal and used mylot as a diary too but i guess for me am still not too open-minded to that.

There are certain things which are best kept privately just like some habits that for some people are weird. So as for me I'd rather not talk about awful habits
