Responding to a discussion after a few months...

Again, it's about my 'unresolved' discussions. I have been missing some notifications and when I was going through my unresolved discussions for giving out the Best Responses, I found that there were a few comments that I haven't responded to. I thought I should just respond, but I need your opinion if you find that it's rude to respond after a few weeks or months... In my case, I didn't receive the notifications, but if there's a situation where your comments being responded after a few months, what do you think?? Is it OK or no big deal for you??

A while ago I found some that I missed ages after I awarded a BR and I felt bad but could not do a great deal about it except make a comment and apologise. These things happen and we get busy and it is so easy to fall behind. I’m pretty sure that most people here don’t mind at all because, after all we are all in the same boat!

Don't worry about it, you can't please everybody. MyLot is enjoyable for us and we don't want to make it stressful, do the best you can, the majority understands.

I hope that everybody will have the same thinking that it is not a big deal whenever they receive late comment to their responses. I don't mind either, but you know, I did encounter a user who didn't think so.

Thanks, Paula! You are right. I can't please everybody and everyday surely there will be one who disagrees. So, I will do what I feel is right as it does not harm anyone. Yeah, it's not a big deal so, I should not be worried or something.

I always get back and comment to any response that my discussions receive even if many months have passed since they were posted. Indeed I have one discussion with quite a few responses that need attention and I will get there too eventually. I feel that late is better than never and I'm sure the users who responded will think so too. Sometimes commenting on older responses can even revive an old discussion and cause it to receive some new responses too

Yes, it's always like that right, better late than never, but I have come across a discussion that a user mentioned that he/she wouldn't like it if he/she receives a late response from the poster. I hope this user is one in a million who thinks that way because to me if I have commented on some discussions and only receive the responses after some time, I am still OK and I like that when the older discussions are being refreshed as 'recent' discussions.

I don't find anything wrong in responding to the discussions you feel like as long as they are alive and kicking here. They are very much here for to be responded .Is it not so? We don't have to curb our wish to respond to a discussion because it has become old.We might have failed to notice that particular discussion due to various reasons. But that is not the reason to ignore and skip a beautiful discussion.

Hi, Balasri! Nice to see you here. I agree with what you were saying above, but what I meant was responding to responses you received after a few months. Yes, sometimes they got lost in the notifications, so, they were left unanswered and I only noticed them after some months.

Hi corry, It is not at all a big deal. I have commented some of my discussions after three years; you may wonder and may think that I am rude but not at all. I joined here before two years but that discussion is showing three years old and that time I didn't aware the importance of commenting back. Recently one of my friend responded to all of my old discussions then only I realized I have left some of discussions unresolved and without commented. So I resolved two of my discussions and commented them too. The same thing happened with me, didn't get any notification, because of the above said friend I find some of the responses were not read by me. So I did that job too when I seen it.

Hi, Sreekala! Oh, I understand you have your own reasons and wow, after three years! Amazing and I think those members who are still active will be surprised to receive their responses being commented and they may have forgotten about that. It's great that you take such effort and at the same time the older discussions will be revived and back in the 'recent' list.

I discovered by accident that email notifications are not sent for all comments and you have to go to the started tab under discussions to check the latest activity on discussions and then you have to scroll through them because it only shows the most recent activity so if more than one user posts something you won't know.

The notification feature does not work indefinitely. After so many responses back and forth it does not continue to notify you. however you do continue to earn so checking manually has it's advantages.

Yes, you've got a good point there. I will probably check the new responses or comments manually in future, but it will take me some time. Thanks!

Hi, Canellita! Yeah, I do go to the 'started' discussions each time I log into this site, but I only browse at the first page and from there I can see which discussions have new responses. In the discussions, I will then look for the last response I receive and you are right, if more than one member posts something, it will only show the last member's user name, but normally I didn't bother to go through other previous responses that receive new comments because I think it's time consuming and not efficient when the 'notification's' feature is available. Since it's not functioning well, I guess I will only respond to the missing comments when I go through the 'unresolved' discussions to mark the BR.

Hi corrycrystal! I don't have my notifications turned on for mylot so I don't know what's happening in mylot on my emails but I am not worrying that much since I am here everyday anyway. I don't see any wrong if you respond back to people who respond to your discussion/s. Its better late, than never You have your own reasons and why it happened. But always make sure that you can comment back on it though it takes a weeks/months already. Its your responsibility. I just did in my case.

Hi, Yan! Oh, I think by default you will receive all the notifications of new responses or comments in your email. I always respond to the responses I receive within a few days, but of late some of the notifications went missing and the responses were left unanswered or unnoticed for months. Yes, it's better late than never.

Maybe it did because I never set them and all the boxes were checked.

Yes, like you I will respond to any older discussions no matter how old they may be as long as I have ideas to share or something to say, but what I really meant was when you respond to a particular discussion and only receive a comment from the poster after a few months.

Yes, it's supposed to work that way no matter how late we are as I don't really mind and I also find that it's nice to finally receive some comments even after such a long time.

It is really hard to go back several months for me. I start at least 2 discussions almost every day, so I would be spending a lot of time looking back if I were to go back in time to see if any new responses have come in on any old discussions. If people do make comments on things they usually come back to the top of my started list and I can quickly check to see if there is anything new then, I can check it and respond. I try to respond to every answer but some times it is just too over whelming.

Hi, Lady! I agree with you that we will be spending a lot of time going back to the old discussions to see if they have new comments and if they receive more than once new response, we will only notice the latest responses or comments, so, I think there will be chances that some comments might go unnoticed.

Well it's always a personnel decision, but I do. Again people are taking the time to respond, not only that but going back in time! No matter their motive, weather they like you and are researching you, or trollimg for cash! You get paid for what ever you write as long as it's a good quality comment!tdemex

Some people's minds just work differently. I just hope that what I am doing here will be acceptable and not offended anyone. Anyway, I will do just that, going back in time, but with no hidden motives and I hope the respondents who receive my comments after some time will understand and have no issues with it. Thanks!

I also experience the same things as think that i already commented those who reply on my discussion only to realize later when i scan the pages that their are other awaiting to be reply on. Thus, i could not yet gives the mark best response until I finish replying. As a respondent to other discussion it would feel great if the starter of the discussion makes a reply it could make me go back to comments again on her discussion. It also alright for me if ever she forget to reply on my comments as i know that every member earn from their activities and it so happen that the starter of the discussion never comments back it is her lost and not mine as i already reply, then it's up to the poster if she comments back.

When I first joined this site, I was hoping that each of my responses would be responded back, but as time went by, I didn't even bother anymore because like you said, as long as we earn from what we are doing, then, it doesn't matter anymore whether the creator would ever comment back or not. However, it is always nice whenever we receive the comments to our responses, right, even though after such a long time.

I try to respond as soon as possible but if it was a week or even a month has gone by I would still take the time to respond.

I always try to practice the same method by commenting back to all the responses I receive within a week, but sometimes there are some of them that have failed to notify me.

For me, I prefer to post responses to the latest duscussions, but if there are some friends who respond my discussions after a few months, I won't regard it as a big problem. If I have some spare time, I will go back to respond the responses to my discussions, even if those discussions have been posted for several weeks. But in fact, I am so busy with my work and it is next to impossible for me to anser such responses. If I receive such notifications that tell me that there are some people who have responded my old discussions, then I tend to ignore it. You see, both the "old" discussions and "latest" discussions are equal in the community of myLot.

I don't feel good if I don't respond back to old the responses I receive. So, I guess some users might just ignore my late comment and never bother or some might appreciate that their responses have actually being read and commented back or they could be some who might think that I have should done that earlier. I agree with you about the discussions, no matter how old they are, as long as they receive new responses, they automatically become the latest one.

Hey, welcome to myLot! It's always okay for me, too. It's better to respond than no response at all and yep, it always works that way, better late than never.
