What are the names of your dogs?

I am interested to know where people based their name-calling to their dogs. We named our existing dogs Suhi- for he was born with his butt first, Wiglet for she loves to wiggle her tail and Stitch from Lilo & Stitch. How about you?

Our dogs were already named when we got them and we didn't really have the heart to change their names. We have two chihuahuas and their names are Daisy and Toby. I know they're unoriginal and kind of generic names but the previous owner's little girl named them and it just stuck since they answered to them. We've kind of come up with a bunch of nicknames for them though so I guess it's all good. For Daisy, we call her CC and Midget. For Toby, we call him Baby B, BB, Spazmonkey(my brother's personal nickname for him because he's so hyper sometimes), Obama (they gave him that one because he was born on the day that Obama won the presidential election), Anubis (his side profile looks like those Egyptian statues of Anubis) and Yoda (his face kind of reminds us of Yoda sometimes).

Thanks...the names are good but sometimes I wish they had more unique names. But I don't think I'd go so far as to name them Cuddles or Sparkly or whatever. That's just a bit too unique for my tastes.

Right now I have a dog Sissy - who was given to us with that name... she's 4 or 5 years old so why change it now? Our other dog is Victory. She got her name b/c when we originally went o look at this litter of puppies we wanted to get a boy and name his Deisel. My husbands a bit of a redneck and has his big ol' deisel truck, plus he's a tractor trailer truck driver... etc. But when we got there I liked the girl better... so the agreement was that we could get the girl if I could think of a feminine name that still related to his world of automotives... we have a Polaris Victory motorcycle that is his baby... now we have a Victory with 4 legs that is his baby. haha

I have three maltese dogs. The first one is named Littlefoot. I am generally terrible with names. (I have a Quaker parrot with the name "Quaker"! And I once had a parakeet named Pretty Bird.) I had no unique name ideas so I prayed for the perfect name and started looking up names online. I saw the name Littlefoot and it made me laugh. I thought it was cute. My dog is a teacup maltese, so he is very "little". Also, we used to have a wooden board to block him from going into the rooms with rugs until he got potty trained. He used to stand with his front paws on the top of the short wooden board and he looked like a little "bigfoot". So I called him "Littlefoot". To this day, I am so glad I picked that name. It fits him perfectly! When we got two more maltese puppies, they were brothers, so we wanted names that matched. One looks just like a living teddy bear. No other name than "Teddy" would have been perfect. So we called him Teddy and his brother Bear. Bear migrated into "Little Bear". So we have Littlefoot, Teddy, and Little Bear (also known as LB). And that's the story of how they got their names! :)

My dog's name is tuffy. This name was given to the dog by my son who was six years old when we brought the puppy home. I think at that time this name was very common and my son must have heard it from someone.

Your dogs has cute names and kinda funny in a positive way! :) We're loving our 2 dogs. We have Japanese Spits. Her color is white but has 3 circles in parts of her body so we called her "Oreo". And her baby is "Chippy". You may wonder why that's the name. I was the one who named her. I was eating chippy that time. lol

We've got 2 dogs, both rescued from the streets. We were huge fans of the tv show, Xena Warrior Princess so named our first girl Athena and our second Solaris. Quite the characters and we'd be lost without them!

I have three Pitbulls, littermates, one year old. Brenda, the brindle, happened to live across the street, and our neighbor came to us and told us he couldn't keep her and asked us to take her, so we did -- so we didn't get to name her. Our other two, a red male named Hephaestus, the lame forge Greek God. When we first got "Fess", he was nothing but skin and bone. His hip bones stuck out so badly, we thought he was going to have hip problems -- hence, the name Hephaestus. And his sister, Hera, is white with fawn spots. She earned her name by displaying slight jealous tendencies, like her namesake, who shook the world because of her jealousy. I love Greek Mythology, so when it comes time to name anything, I think Greek first.
