Where did you last go on holiday?

November 10, 2009 9:46am CST
My last holiday that was actually fun and I went somewhere was last year summer - it has been so long as I have been really busy but I will travel again to the same place next month for christmas - anyway I went to Germany to see my family and it was really enjoyable and fun. I live in the UK so it is not that far from Germany. It was pretty hot and I went swimming every now and then. So where did you go on your last Holiday and what did you do? Was it fun and how long did you actually got to stay there?

The last trip I took on the holidays was actually two years ago. I traveled to Atlanta, Georgia with my uncle for the Thanksgiving holidays. I really did enjoy it even though it was a one day trip. We had a nice dinner and visit with the family. It was great to see the new house that my aunt had brought.

In July my husband and I went to Latvia and Lithuania, and we had a really good time there. First we went from Denmark to Germany and in Germany we caught a bus to Vilnius in Lithuania. We had 4 days in Vilnius and we managed to do a lot of sightseeing. It was very interesting and there were many beautiful buildings. We also visited the KBG museum, and that was a scary experience, but we learned a lot. There are a lot of churches in Vilnius, we visited many of them, and we took many pictures. We also enjoyed the local food especially the pancakes When we had spent 4 days in Vilnius we went to Riga in Latvia. That was a very different experience, because Riga is a lot bigger than Vilnius. In Riga there are also a lot of beautiful buildings and we did a lot of sightseeing. I especially liked the Russian church. One day we went to visit a village called Sigulda. It was a very beautiful and peaceful place, and we enjoyed our visit there. When we had spent 4 days in Riga we had to return to Denmark.

My last holiday was to South Africa in January 2009. It was a 12 hour flight from London to Cape Town. I took my toddler son and I was 17 weeks pregnant at that time. We traveled for fifteen days. We spent time in lovely Cape Town visiting sights like the penguins at Boulders Beach and Scratch Patch. We then visited the Garden Route. I loved seeing the picturesque beaches and going on a safari for a few hours.

I live in the U.S., specifically southern California so DH and I take a lot of trips to the beach (we live about an hour away) but we had a wonderful trip last summer to the New England coast. Initially, we planned to go for two weeks but we were having so much fun that we extended for another week. We flew into Rhode Island rented a car and visited Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Maine. We walked every beach that we came across and hiked every day. The coastline is fabulous and my only regret is that we didn't have the time to go into the Atlantic provinces of Canada. For some reason, I've always wanted to visit Nova Scotia even though I know absolutely nothing about it. Happy traveling!

My last holiday was in Serbia. I spent 3 days in Belgrade, than went to a City north of Belgrade called Novi Sad, to participate in rock festival named Exit. Meanwhile, in Belgrade, there were the University Olympics going on, so Belgrade and Novi Sad were full of people from all over the world. I stayed in a youth hostel and shared my room with people from poland, greece, australia, slovenia, a lot of places. During the festival, I camped. I walked down the bank of the Danube, and got lost in Belgrade. I was living next to an old bombing site. I got drunk on rakija, and saw a lot of live bands. Very few people speak english, but it was nice, people trying to help me with the limited language knowledge they have. The worst thing about travelling is knowing that you will never see the place again, or if you do, in a long time...

For my last holiday I went to exotic India. I love India. The continent is so vast and even if you spend one year there, you couldn't see all of it. I went up north to the Himalayas and it was breathtaking. The good thing about India is you get a lot for your money. It is fairly inexpensive and if you love the outdoors there are a lot of places to travel to. Next time I go, I hope to visit the south. South India has a tropical climate, and people tell me it is beautiful. Again it is inexpensive, so you can really enjoy without spending a great deal of money.

My last holdiday was to the French Riviera. We stayed in Nice but visited both Cannes and Monaco including Monte Carlo. It was great fun but not so good on the purse strings. That part of the world is beautiful but very expensive. Other than that, the best trip I've been on was to Austin, texas twice. Anyone who hasn't been, I can highly recommend it and it's my favourite city in the world.
