do lying in chat world bad?

I don't think that you have to tell everyone everything about your personal life. I think it's bad only when you're in too deep. For example, I had a friend who went on an online dating site. She was really into this guy and she fell in love with him. When they met up, she found out, the guy was OLDER and he was actually using his son's picture the whole time they were chatting. I think those are instances where you shouldn't lie.

I don't chat very often any more, but when I did, I was like you and I didn't tell people my real name, my address or the name of the place where I worked. You never know who you are writing to, and I think it is best to hide your personal information at first. When I get to know people bet ter, we sometimes start exchanging emails and then I tell them more about myself, but I wouldn't do that till I know them a bit better. When I chat I don't write the name of the place where I live, I simply write that I live in the western part of a certain island.

Well, that is lying for a good cause my brother, never share your valuable information with anyone online. No one can be trusted, especially scam sites. So that was a good idea, I don't consider this as an offense unless you lie to someone for your own benefit.
