There is scientific truth that our sun does age and when that time comes life on the solar system may no longer exist. But that won't be for another million years. So definitely life will end but not anytime in our lifetime I don't think what the movie is saying is going to happen. There are several scientific bases on the fictitious exaggerations the movie had and it though it does seem convincing, are merely just exaggerations I believe life will continue for another million years we may not reach the last days of the sun but atleast before our sun turns red maybe Unless of course some catastrophic event like a meteor the size of a continent hits the planet or sets a collision course with our orbit occurs then that would be a different story

The scary thing about mass moving at those incredible speeds is that a meteor wouldn't have to be nearly the size of a continent to destroy us all. A meteor half the size of Bohol has a good chance of ending most human life.

I have seen the movie last night with some friends.while it has nice visual effects,I believe it will not happen.God wouldn't want to see His creations being destroyed.scientifically, the sun ages, but I think it will not explode soon.also,I believe the Mayan calendar didn't say the world will end by 2012.their calendar will just end by that year.on the lighter side,if they did really predict the end of the world, then why did the Mayans didn't survive until 2009?

Well after 9/11 anything is possible to me. If you were downtown on 9/11 you actually thought the world was coming to an end. So anything can happen as far as I'm concerned.

In my place people really do fall in line in the theater just to watch this movie. i still have to watch it. I guess this is not a new concept Mr. Al Gore started it in his documentary movie and after which a lot of same concepts of movies came in. I hope it will not happen, this is some what a lesson for us to be more conscious with our daily livings. The forecast of that movie is scary and a bit true, but no one know when it will happen and how will it be, if it happen. All we have to do i guess is to live peaceably and be more a mother earth friendly living. Our actions might have the consequences of leading to 2012 phenomena. I hope not, not in our lifetime..lol..selfish of me..lol..

I have been meaning to read the reasons why some people think the world is going to end in 2012 but I have not gotten around to it yet, but there have been many predictions over the years of the end of the world and none of those came true so I don't really think this one will either. I could be wrong but I don't think so, at least I hope not.

No, I do not think that this will really happen. The Mayan calendar didn't say that the world will end, just that it will change! Plus, it is only the end to their calendar. I really doubt that the world will end. It better not, because I'm in the class of '12!

That is absolutely right, anything can happen. And if it does lets hope the people of earth are ready for it ....

God, I hope not. We'd all be living in a Hollywood cliche - and that would be terrible! (But at least we'd get a happy ending, right?) I think that by 2012, the film company will have made a fortune from the franchise, and won't really care if the world does explode, or whatever. At least it would keep the Revelations-quoting fundamentalist nutters happy!
