A day late and a cat short

Once at our old house, Sunny got out. We didn't see him for at least 2 days. We thought the coyotes had gotten him. I guess he was hiding in the bushes. Anyway, he came out when he got hungry, but he was so freaked out that he wouldn't come to us. The next night we lured him into the house with food. Yesterday morning I noticed that Sunny didn't come down to eat, but in the hectic rush to get everybody to school, I didn't really pursue it. It's not that unusual anyway. Yesterday evening when I got home, Cary said to me, "Mom, I saw Sunny outside." Well, by then it was dark. Not the best time to conduct a cat search, but we tried. No Cat. Well, after talking to Cary it turns out that he saw the cat outside the day before. Not good at all. We have predators and the cat just isn't equipped to be outside. But hopefully he found himself a good hiding place and is just holed up, scared half to death and hungry. Anyway, I conducted another search this morning. No cat. I suspect that something got him the night before we even knew he was out. But hopefully he's just hiding really well and will come out when he gets hungry and thirsty. We can hope. If anybody feels inclined to say a little prayer that Sunny comes home safely, it would be much appreciated.

Coyotes? You live near coyotes? Poor Sunny. I will pray that he is all right and will return home soon. I am sure that you all miss him. I do hope that he is o.k.

Oh, I do hope that you find Sunny safe and sound and none the worse for his adventures. It is not safe for cats to be outside around here, either, but some people still let their cats roam free. I can understand the barn cats, because they have a safe haven and food, but I feel awful for the other cats that are turned loose. As Irish said, though, they have really good natural instincts, so he might just be out exploring and enjoying his freedom and will return home when he is tired and hungry. I really hope that he returns soon.

I will say a prayer and I sure hope Sunny comes home soon. My oldest cat gets out but never goes further than our deck because well we catch her When she stayed with my sister in law she was allowed to go out all the time. I don't care for that as people are poisoning the cats in my park because there are so many which makes me so Keep me updated hun and hugs

I said a little prayer for sunny. I hope that he comes home soon! Two cats were eaten by coyotes here, but this was before I met my husaband. It's sad that it happened. There's a third cat that is still around though from time to time he disappears and we can't find him. He's an outside cat, wouldn't get along with our indoor cat...

We face the same problem, our barn kitties seem to be wise and we have only lost one to predators in all the years we have lived here, but every once in a while one will stay out all night. The house cats are let out but we make much more effort to get them in before night. I hate spending the whole night worrying about the cat who didn't come in. My prayers are with you.

Oh dear, I sure will pray for Sunny to come home, I hope he’s okay! My two cats live indoors and don’t go outside unless someone leaves the door open for a really long time. Rosie got out once and went missing for three days or so and I thought I had lost her for good but she came back on a rainy night; I heard scratching by the glass sliding door, I looked out and there she was wet, dirty and hungry! Hope that Sunny will return the same way. I would love to know where these felines go when they are away from home for so long! Keep us updated...

He doesn't go out either, but the door didn't close right when Cary went out. That's fixed now, but no sign of Sunny anywhere.

I will pray that your cat returns home soon and safely. Our cat, Dar One, leaves for two or three months at a time. He goes down the street and visits with the neighbors. When he is ready, he returns home. It feels like we are sharing our cat with the neighbors. At least we know where he is hanging out and that he is safe there. The neighbors enjoy his visits and they feed him. They take care of him as though he was theirs. I am glad the cat feels comfortable to wonder between our homes.

OMG.. sure will. we've had cats and dogs disappearing around here-the town is in denial they're back after over 100 years.it took a front page picture someone snapped of a coyote to get them to admit people weren't seeing "ghost dogs".

Oh, Dawn! I'm so sorry to hear about your poor cat! We have an indoor/outdoor kitty. Occasionally she will disappear for a few days. Generally it is when she is not feeling well. Sometimes cats will go off somewhere to be alone when they do not feel well. Let's hope that's what has happened to your cat! Maybe he will reappear soon!

He has a chronic condition in his mouth, but I doubt that would be enough to make him disappear.
