What is your concept of a perfect landscaped garden. I have designed several landscaped gardens but each having the personality of the person it belongs to. I shall contribute to this subject as comments to your answers.

hi allknowing my husband was a landscape gardener and our concept was to make the perfect landscaped garden look like it all grew there naturally, nothing artificial and it worked as we took first place several times at the Orange County Fair. We used rocks and logs in strategic places and water falls, it all came together like it had always grown there. Natural pathways and natural materials, nothing phony or artificial.

I think landscapes are supposed to reflect the person they belong to. I've been landscaping and building flower beds for years as has my best friend. One year we both layed out identical beds in our respective yards but we put our seperate choices of flowers and plants in them. Even though the beds were identical in shape and size and position they could not have been more different. It was alot of fun and a great learning experience. I duplicated a raised bed of my own in a neighbors yard because it was what she wanted, I was against it because I didn't think she would like it in her own yard the way she did in my mine. We found out that was the case, after one season I helped her re-plant the bed with other choices that she made on her own, she was much happier with her second bed, than she was copying mine.
