What's going on in your school system?

In the county I live in the unemployment rate equals the national average and at times has been higher. Our state officials have recently cut our funding for public schools drastically while eliminating another program that promised high school seniors with a good grade point average $4,000 to start college. Last week we cut several more programs either down or out and fired 4 more teachers. Some of our first grade classes have over 40 students in them and they are merging similar classes into one at the high school. A neighboring school was forced to cut 11 positions. Michigan students are falling through the cracks by the building full. Is it this bad elsewhere. Are we the only ones that seem to be sacrificing our own futures by compromising on the level of education we are offering the future.?
