Well I am always the "early bird" when it comes to putting up and turning on my Christmas lights yearly. I tend to have them up before Halloween so I avoid the cold and snow. This shot here is of the house a week or two ago. There's more lights added and I have been turning them on each night since Monday the 16th. Seems I started something as a lot of houses around here now have theirs up and on as well. Last year I waited until Thanksgiving Day to turn them on nightly. Do you add lights outside for the Holidays? If so are they on already? If not, when do you usually turn them on?

You did a great job on the lights. We always put them up the day after Thanksgiving. Mainly because my husband has that day off and has no obligations to attend to and still has Saturday and Sunday to do things if he needs them, so it is the perfect day to do the tree and the lights. Actually the kids and I do the tree and my husband does the lights outside. He does a really nice job. My oldest son is now 12 so I think he might make him come out and do lights with him instead of doing the tree with my daughter, and my other son and I.

Ya know, Grandpa Bob...I really should hire you to come here and put up all our lights. We have 2 HUGE tote fulls of them under the house and all work but just no gumption to drag them out and put them up. I have everything needed to put em up on the house and all the evergreen trees out front. Just no desire to actually do it. hmmmmmmmm...the contractor who fixed our house from last winter's ice storm just started a new thing..hiring themselves out to put up Christmas lights and take them down plus store them in their huge warehouse they just acquired. I'm tempted to hire them. lol

The tradition here at my house has always been to start putting up our Christmas decorations the day after Thanksgiving. I don't like to put them up before. I like for each holiday to have its own day, so I won't start on Christmas until after Thanksgiving.
I can remember as a kid coming home from my grandparents on Thanksgiving, we would have an hour drive and we first see who would see the first Christmas lights and then after that we would count how many we saw on the way home.
No we can do that while out trick or treating. not fun

I think I mentioned Christmas lights in another responseto you. You always put up a good display. I cant climb up onto our roof to put lights on the gutter, but I can put lights up in the front yard. One can buy some really good ones now.
My daughter will help.
Some of the homes here that have very big displays, charge, say, 50c to view their display (voluntary) & donate the money to charity.

I don't put up lights, but I've noticed people in the neighborhood starting to put them up this week. Haven't been out after dark though, so don't know if they turn them on yet or not.
