Hi Krystal. I would love to visit an underground river. I visited Ruby Falls Cave here in the USA once, and it was beautiful! Very far underground, a 140 ft. water fall and stream...so outstanding! Karen

Hi PeacefulWmn9, you'll sure love our place too.. Palawan's Underground River as known as "Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park" is one of the "World Heritage Site"... It is an 8.2km long that is reputed to be the longest navigable underground river in the world. It is also known for scenic natural beauty, intact old growth tropical forest, interesting wildlife, and a spectacular limestone formation that possess a most impressive cave system.

well.. "Skylight Apartelle" is one of the cheapest place to stay in Puerto Princesa. It is very accessible for it is located at the center of the City. With the great price they offer, you'll get much more than you would expect from the cheap hotel price that you pay. With regards to tourist destination... there's a lot of place to choose from... like Palawan Baker's Hill, Mitra Rancho, Honda Bay, City Baywalk, Balsahan, Dos-Palmas, and a lot more... and of course the well known underground river. And one thing, don't forget to try to dine-in at KALUI restaurant... It's really not much to look at from the outside... but wait till you get inside. It's the home of best and fresh seafoods in Palawan. Hope you'll enjoy Palawan as much as I enjoy here.

I have been to the Underground River in Palawan and truth be told, I was quite disappointed. Maybe because I just got back from the world class islands of El Nido when I got there and for me Underground river failed in comparison. I also expected a lot from it because it is a world heritage site. I actually prefer Bohol's Chocolate Hills than the Underground river when it comes to wonders of the world nominees.

oh i see... but maybe it depends on how you see and appreciate this marvelous natural area... As a natural area, this part has attracted increasing numbers of hikers, biologist, photographers, and nature lover. It is a source of pride and a key element in the identity of the people of Puerto Princesa in particular and of the Philippines as a whole.

Hi krystalheart, I would love to visit that! I am not a great one for artifical buildings, so Disneyworld wouldn't impress me. But give me anything pristine, and I am a game for it. :)

I wOuld lOve tO see the scenic spOts of Palawan. YOur place has been featured many times in the tube and in Our lOcal tablOids, and has even caught nOw the attentiOn Of the internatiOnal cOmmunity due tO this so called UndergrOund River. WOi it wOuld be an hOnOr fOr us tO have this place included in the 7 wOnders Of the wOrld. It really makes me wOnder what this river is all abOut. Why is it undergrOund? Is it fOund beneath the surface of the earth? I see rivers everywhere flOwing downstream meandering up to their mOuths jOining the waters of the sea. But this river, where dOes it flOw and where does it end? This reminds me Of the film 'JOurney tO the Center of the Earth' where the prOtagonists were led at the cOre Of the earth and fOund themselves wOndering in awe tO see such a spectacular place. Perhaps the UndergrOund River Of Palawan is likened tO that place where Brendan, the kid, and guide went. If that is the case, then, indeed, the UndergrOund River Of Palawan shOuld be amOng the 7 WOnders Of the WOrld. Just make sure, krystalheart, that there are nO beasts fOund in yOur river! LoL.

ahahaha.. LOL... Hi Stryker1005, there are no beasts here in Palawan... Maybe Fairies and Angels will do... =) anyway, yes it is nominated for the "New Seven Wonders of Nature"... This Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park, is really one of the most conservation areas in the Philippines. It was protected to preserve the unspoiled natural beauty of the impressive cave system. This river flows inside a cave for 8.2km long directly emptying into the sea. It is also declared as a National Geological Monument. I am so impressed how Mother Nature created this marvelous natural area. Hope you like it too...

I heard so much about the Underground River in Palawan and in fact I have seen this on one of the travel show in ABS-CBN channel. The rock formation was great and totally attractive and the river was very clean. Palawan is one of the cleanest place in the Philippines and it has rich mineral resources.

I really would love to visit the Philippines one day in the future. I have heard that Palawan Island is an amazingly beautiful destination where much adventure is possible. An underground river sounds ever so exciting. I know that the snorkeling is meant to be excellent. The interior is probably quite rural and green. It is wonderful that you live at such a superb and unspoilt traveler's destination.
