Stem cells are the body's master cells that create all other tissues, organs and systems in the body and these cells are found aplenty in the cord blood which forms the building blocks for our blood and immune system. They are apparently able to reproduce red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets. So basically, if we harvest and store these stem cells for our baby, these same stem cells can be used in the future should their body needs these building blocks to regenerate or reproduce new healthy blood cells or tissue to replace those damage. If you ask me, I would prefer that these stem cells would NEVER be needed at all for Ryan. Can stem cells do all that it claims and even more in the future? Why not? Who knows what science and research could do with stem cells 20 to 30 years or even 40 years in the future. Since the advantages and the benefits far outweighs the cost for storing stem cells, so I have decided to sign up for the package to store my baby stem cells. Of course this decision has to make before the delivery. What do you think about storing stem cells?

Hi vingyan, Science has advanced so much that we have stem cells that are able to save lives. But do religions forbade? Can they guarantee that when in need they can help save lives? Don't forget Murphy' Law. What happens if TENAGA encounter power failure for say 3 days? They, I beleive have backup. What happens if the backup also fails? It is also possible. Let me relate a fire incident in Penang. A heater was on to heat up a solution up to a certain temperature with a thermalstat, a temperature controller to cut off the heater when the set temperature was reached. A second backup was installed as level sensor, if the temperature controller failed. On that fateful night, the temperature controller failed to function, temperature rose high. The solution level dropped to below the trigger level. The level sensor failed to cut of the heater. End result:-The factory was burnt. Loss:- More than RM 7 million. Remember Murphy's Law.

wow that is a tough call, I think it sound very good, but then once stored I am sure there costs for maintenance, insurance and the cost of applying or germinating them cells. What is the cost?

hi vingyan06 I think it is a marvelous idea and with all the technological advances it will be more and more useful in the years to come. Scientists will discover more and' more ways to use stem cells so we should go forward with them and not backward. build on old technology while going forward with the new.

I think there are alot of really good reasons for stem cells to be stored. Especially there is a medical reason that these stored stem cells could come in handy in the future and well being of the baby. I think it should be an option given to pregnant women and I hope it is or will be in the future.
