What are you thankful for?

Every year around this time we stop and think about the things that we are thankful to have in our lives. Even in the worst of situations, I am sure that we could all say that we have been blessed more than we ever deserve! I am so thankful to have an incredible wife and son, a great, loving family, a wonderful church family, a God who loves me no matter how bad I mess up and never gives up on me, a job, a place to live, food to eat, clothes to wear, vehicles to get me where I need to go, friends who mean the world to me and so much more! What are some things that you are thankful for? What would it be like if we showed how thankful we are on a daily basis instead of just once a year? I believe the world would be a completely different place.

I agree with you. We all have so much to be grateful for. Even the fact that we can see, that we have fingers to type, that we have electricity, and that we have a computer. We should be thankful for everything even the little things. Nothing should be taken for granted. We had an ice storm some years ago that knocked out our electricity for about a week in January with below freezing waether. This was no picnic. When the electric power finally came back and I warmed up a can of beans. Warm beans and bread, what a feast. We usually only appreciate things when they are gone. We have so much, let us have a thankful spirit everyday and let our Heavenly Father know our feelings. Let us also daily show generousity to others if we have something we can share.

Thanks so much for your response! You are absolutely right about only appreciating things when they're gone. So many times I have taken for granted the things and people I have had right there with me all the time and then something would happen and I wouldn't have them there any more. When you lose someone or something so special to you, it really makes you think about how much it meant to you to begin with. I wonder what our lives would be like if we were to appreciate everything and everyone in our lives every single day. I believe that we would be a lot more grateful, loving, caring and sensitive to the needs of others around us. My hope is that I fully recognize the blessings God has given me in my life before they're taken away!

i am thankful for my son most of all. he is the love and light of my life. i am having a very difficult time right now in my life so i fail to see anything else that is positive right now. i have had a long, hard struggle for most of my life and it is wearing on me and getting harder with each passing day. i will try to be thankful for more but right now i just cannot.

Thank you for your genuine response. I'm glad that even through the difficult times like you're facing, you see a bit of light in your son. Children are truly a blessing, there's no doubt about it. I have always loved children, but I could never really understand the love between a father and son until this past August when my son was born. There is absolutely nothing like it! When I come home after a rough day at work, my son is there wanting me to hold him and play with him. I am so amazed at the innocence and love in the heart of a small child. I want to encourage you to keep on going even in the face of problems and difficulties. Here is a verse of Scripture that I really like that is encouraging in tough times. "Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you." Deuteronomy 31:6 Even in the toughest of situations when it doesn't seem like anyone cares, just remember that God is good all the time and He is always with you even when you can't feel it!

I'm very thankful because I'm still alive and my family is there for me especially my mother. Even if we have problems we can still survive and surpass it. I know we are very blessed because we can eat 3 times a day even if we are not rich we are comfortable in our life right now. I couldn't ask for more.

I am thankful because despite the wrong things that i had done, god never get tired on helping me. Although I complain a lot in my lot in my life because before I didn't see how blessed I am for having a great life. I can say that i am lucky to have a great family, friends, job and we are able to eat more than three times a day and we have a shelter to live with. God never failed me in the things that I want, he sometimes don't give me the things that I wish but instead he gave me the things that is the best for me.

Thanks for your response. I, too, am thankful that God never gives up on us. I have made many mistakes in my life and I honestly never have deserved the grace of God. But the fact is that we serve a great God who loves us so much that He was willing to give His only son as a sacrifice for our sin! And even when we turn our backs on Him, ridicule Him and His people, and everything else, God still loves us and is able to forgive. My mind cannot hardly fathom that kind of love that God has for us!

I am thankful for everything. I am thankful for each new day, thankful to have another chance to live my life. I am thankful for my children. I am thankful for the good things that they had done despite the loss of their father. I am thankful for everyday of our life that we had been able to cope since the time we lost my husband and my children's father. I can never thank enough. We are praying every night to thank for all the blessings that God has showered us.

I am thankful for many, many, MANY things. I am thankful for living in a first world nation and the fact that I am fortunately spared of the daily suffering and misery of having to survive off a filthy water supply, scarce amounts of food and no electricity, things that many of us take for granted and consider to be basic commoditites. I am thankful for living in this wonderful era full of amazing technology, medicines that can save my life and generally being free to live life how I want (to an extent). I am thankful for being privileged enough to live above the poverty line, and as such, understand that it is my duty to offer charity and help to those much less lucky than myself. I am thankful for having a family that treats me well and have generously provided for me over all these years. I am thankful for having a brilliant set of friends who have stuck with me through and through. I am thankful for life in general, and thankful for all those things that I take for granted and don't think about whatsoever in day to day life, such as my health and stable job.

Hey there Scott. There are so many things to thank for. The air is enough reason to be thankful. And nose without meter (just like the electric meter) which means we don't have to pay for every air that we take in. I thank God for friends. I thank God for a loving parents. I thank God for very sweet siblings. I thank God for people He made who invented the refrigerator and ice cream. I thank God for people who discovered fire. I thank God for people who invented the oven, there wouldn't be delicious cakes if there was never an oven. I thank God for Benjamin Franklin who discovered electricity. I thank God for His unfailing Love. I thank God for Jesus.

Yes, scott, I agree with you completely! Everyone should retain a grateful heart all the time. And Thanksgiving Day is very date to remind us to give our thanks to everybody or everything around us, of course, God is the first one. I really have the same feelings like you. I'm serving in church, and I'm always weak-I complain brothers and sisters, I think it's so hard, I'm about to give it up. But yes, God never gives me up. He's getting hold of me all the time. I'm so glad that I'm sitll here. Even if I made faults, I sin. And He also gives me a grateful heart to give my thanks to others. I should learn it. And even if I mess up, I should retain this heart.
