Annoying flash sites!

Does anyone get annoyed when a company or business has an annoying, forever-to-load flash site? I'm so confused by this. Why do companies think it's necessary? Sure, flash makes their site look great and professional, but it's just a hassle to navigate, and WAY too graphic if you ask me. (Do some companies and sites really need all of these fancy animations, music, and so on?). Which sites have you been on that have totally frustrated you with this? My example is when I was researching tanning salons to go to, and about 3/4 of the ones I went across were flash and not HTML, and took forever to load and were just a hassle to get through. What about you? Is a company having an HTML site better than having a flash site? For the sake of the people viewing the website? Or am I just crazy?

They do not realize that everyone does not have a high speed connection. Some people are stuck on dialup for economic reasons or they are out in the country where high speed is not available. Usually designers are city based with new fast computers so they design to the limits of their machines, not the public who does not have the latest and greatest machines, which are frequently several years older in technology. So partly they are showing off, and partly are not sensitive to their audience. You have to leave a comment in the "contact us" and maybe some of them will be changed.

I might add that there are programs that can block flash. I do not use them so cannot really recommend on where to find them or how useful they are.
