Do you ever go to the beach in the winter just for a walk along the beach to see how rough the sea is.I know there are alot of people that only go to the beach in the summer as it is too cold as well as no shops open near the beach in the winter.

Hi jugjugs, this very morning. My friend and I meet to walk and today walked along by the sea to the beach. It was beautiful, peaceful and hot and sunny, the sea was calm. Beaches themselves aren't the best thing to actually walk on, we prefer to walk alongside. I love it when the sea is rough and the spray blows, two weeks ago the sea looked white as it rolled in, today it was blue, but far too cold to swim in.

I often take my dogs to the beach in the winter as they are not really allowed in the summer and they absolutely love it! I do as well when i see my dalmation and golden retriever 11yrs old and 13 yrs old acting like they are little puppies as they seem to change when they get to the beach, they do absolutely love the fields but we dont go to the beach that often so its a buzz for them. When its not too cold they like to go into the water too but as they are getting a bit old they struggle to stand up in the waves bless them. I do think a winters day on the beach can be just as beautiful in its own way as a summers day, and much less busy!!

Yes I have done that. For the most part where I have lived the beaches are less crowded and quieter in the winter. I just love walking along the beach without a lot of trash and people messing it up.

We dont have winter here so Id love to experience winter first. Then maybe try going to the beach just for fun. I have heard/seen/read that lakes freeze over when its winter time, but I dont think beaches do that.LOL It might be just cooler than usual. Well, that is just a guess. But that would be quite an experience, dont you think?

I've never been to the beach in the winter at all. Of course, I've actually only been to the beach about five times in my life. There are no beaches very close to where we live as we are in landlocked Kentucky. I think that if I did live in a coastal area then it would be something that I would want to do though. I imagine to take a walk on the beach during the winter would be really refreshing and very, very peaceful as I don't think there would be very many people around.

I live in sunny Queensland, on the coast, with a number of sandy beaches close by, but I am not a beach lover. The only time I would go to the beach is either at dusk or in the winter (although of course our winter isn't cold).

i do sometimes when i need some quiet to think,it's nice. but most of the time the wind whipping around the beach is too unpleasant to do so.

its not too bad here in australia to go to the beach in winter although it is definately too cold to swim. i usually go down and have a look at the surf and take my dog for a walk while i am at it. he is an active little bugger and needs as much exercise as i can give him.

If I have the chance I will try to walk on the beach in the winter. I know that the sea is varify in different season. I've walked on the beach in the summer. So, it's interesting to walk on the beach in the winter.

Hi jugsjugs, We don't have winter in my country, but I could just imagine how cold it is to go to the beach during winter. Out here, during the rainy season going to the beach won't be a good idea as it normally be very cold and windy. The waters can be so rough and sea level can go up any minute which could be very dangerous.

No. I will not put myself at risk to get any illness due to the cold weather. It is not advisable to go on swimming during this season. If you want you can stay home and enjoy a warm bath. Be patient to wait for the summer to enjoy swimming even everyday you are free to do that!

we live fairly close to the beach (we have to drive but its only about 15 minutes to get there) and we have gone to the beach during the winter to see the excess ice and snow and the waves. its quite interesting, really.

We do but never last too long because the wind is normally blowing too much & it's the type of cold wind that goes straight through you...so for us, it's normally a quick walk then back home for us.

what about this time of yr, over in scotland? my cousin and i even went swimming, it must have been early november late october in 94, when we're over there on holiday. we spent the day down near where mum grew up, it was funny but we had a great time. water wasn't to bad either. i don't like swimming in the ocean out here in aust thou, to much under current for me.

Actually yes I do. I live about a 30 min drive from the Ocean, so I think that's fairly close. Anyway, I've always loved the ocean, everything from suntanning, swimming, picnics, the smell of it, etc. I was just there about 2 wks ago on a cold, windy, foggy, wintery day. I decided to take my mother out for lunch so we tried one of the seafood restaurants there on the boardwalk, eating our seafood chowders. Afterward, we thought we'd work off some of the calories by going for a power walk. OMG the wind factor was brutal, even though we were wearing heavy winter coats, scarves, gloves, etc. We walked maybe 1 block and had to head back, it was just way too windy and cold, also the waves were lapping pretty high. I did notice that there were 2 joggers running in only shorts and a T and they looked pretty cold! The parking lot was also deserted and it seemed almost like a ghost town because even the restaurants were almost empty. Far cry from the summer months when it's so packed and congested that you're unable to find parking. I should also mention that there is this restaurant I'm dying to try on the beach that's long been rumored to be haunted! Should be entertaining to try.

I have not been to the beach in years, but would love to go. I have only been to the beach in the past during the summer. I would love to go again in the winter time. That would be great. Happy Mylotting

When I was growing up once in awhile my parents would take us to the beach because some of the rides were still open. We did play on the beach but could not go in the water because it was to cold. Now where I live there are no beaches so I can not go in the summer or winter.
