Hit from Behind From Ovechkin? What Do You Think?

Last night Ovechkin got a game misconduct for a hitting Patrick Kaleta from Buffalo into the boards. They said it was a hit from behind. You can clearly see on the replay that he hit him from the side, not the back. It was just a hard check and Kaleta fell into the boards face first and cut his face!!! Bad Call Ref!!!! My kid got the same call in his game last weekend. He hit a kid from the side and the kid went down and my kid was in the box for 10 mins. Needless to say Ovi had a much better attitude about his game ejection than my son did when he got sent to the box. But, my kid is only 12 and we are still working on "not showing your anger to the refs". :) I was just interested in knowing what you guys thought about this hit. The refs in the NHL are so inconsistent sometimes - It drives me CRAZY!!!

Sometimes blood is enough to get the call. Guys need to get their heads up and pay attention..Haven't seen the highligts yet. I hear ya on the inconsistent..at least they consistently are.

I agree. If they would keep their heads up then there would not be as many open-ice hits. There are a lot of guys hitting their heads on the seams between the glass. Thats what happened last night. That wasn't Ovi's fault.

That's what he gets for being the superstar that he is. Maybe the refs were just too careful in making sure that they were'nt giving any preference to Alexander the Great! Just too, too careful, that they got this wrong. I still admire his attitude!
