Diet To Live Longer?

I have read on a health website that the Mediterranean diet of eating plenty of vegetables, fruits, nuts, cereals, fish and olive oil will lower your mortality rate. However, I also read in a health insurance booklet or articles that eating each meal moderately will also lower your mortality rate. So maybe if I do both and add a health supplement, be it something herbal, or a natural vitaminmy mortality rate will go down. Have you tried any of this type of health nutrition, or life health policy?

Basically it comes down to eating healthy, stay at ak good weight and exercise and you will live longer. Although Olive oil is supposed to be better for you and if you eat moderately, you may lose weight but not eating what is really good for you. I would guess, it is up to you to do the research and what is good for you and make sure you get that better things in your diet and avoid the trans fats and things like that

I agree to that vegetables and fruits is another way to make people healthy with ofcourse prior to minimum sleep. Most doctor advises their patients especially when admitted/confined in the hospital to take more, than eating preservatives food.

Hi Jackee, It is a fact that diet makes a person live longer...There are people taking there diets but does not live longer as expected on life span age. Good explanation for that is that sometimes there are people who have no precise or good orientation of what and how is to go on a diet..Studies have shown that there are also some people who are strict vegetarians can have illnesses too like cancer, hypertension, or any disease..why? because we have to take in consideration our genetic/hereditary illnesses got from our ancestors, and some acquired illnesses from environment caused by our chosen lifestyle.Hence, some of these are reasons why the mortality rate is high.. It is good that you took the initiative to take care of your health..However, when we talk of moderate?it means that if you eat too much or too less is bad too. it should be moderate only..If you see yourself eating too much fatty foods? meats? carbohydrates? preservatives food like processed meats? then the best solution is to minimize them because your life will we at risk too.. basically, taking leafy vegetables, fruits, and cereals which helps absorbs fats stored in your body and lowers your cholesterol level is already a form of diet what you call "Proper diet"..the fats stored in your body will be lessened too because you decline eating those foods that may put your life at risk.. taking nutritional supplement is a helpful tip to but always have an EXERCISE everyday to burn some unwanted calories in your body.. Water therapy is also good..they say "man can survive without food but not without water".. So i suggest, like you being a responsible citizen contributing to lessen the mortality rate too,is to start eating nutritious foods already and if you wanna really have a diet change from your lifestyle before? slowly decrease the intake of unhealthy foods not sudden cut of limits because your body will not easily accept the abrupt changes until you make it slow to moderate diet..you can make a food planner if you want to monitor your food pattern..then substitute the healthy foods. We have nothing to do with a lot tempting foods around us but if we are determined and disciplined for a beneficial change to extend our life span? then why not? besides we may be of help to others too..

There are lots of different diets out there that are suppose to be very healthy for you. The specalist all have different opinions on what we should do to stay healthy. These same specalist do not agree on what food is good for us and as far as I can see anything we eat is not good for one reason or another. I try to keep my weight done by not overeating and doing some walking. I also take vitamins and calcium tablets and a joint supplement I do not get sick very often.

No, I haven't, but I also don't think that diets with no meat eating will lower my mortality rate, because meat is also a important food, which supplies the organism with valuables substances like iron, which is very important to blood. So I don't make any diets.

Of course is good to eat healthy and you will live longer, but in the mediterranean diet olive oil is used often to fry, which is not that healthy. The best thing to live longer is to eat all kind of foods so your body will not be missing anything, do exercise and stay away from stress.

I don't believe in those diet trips. No two people or articals can agree on any one thing. You can go to various health websites or talk to different doctors in person, and everyone would tell you something different. For example: I suffer from hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) my friends told me I'm not eating enough, and my doctor is telling me I need to eat less and lose weight. However, he never said eat less of what... just eat less. So who do you think I'm more inclined to believe? No one really because no two people agree. and the so-called health professional was to vague. I go by what my body tells me. I stick to what makes me feel strongest.
