repair auto suface paint scar by myself

i have had my car for 3 months. there several scars on its surface. shallow or deep. today i have bought a mini air-touch paint sprayer in order to repair those scars. the suck day is cold and i do this uncomfortable business for half an hour in winter wind. but at last i have got a just so so result.
i wonder if there is anyone here have such experience?

I always would take my car to the repair shop, but I feel curious about those paint sprays. I admit that I want to use one some day, but only when my insurance stops covering the repairs I do.
