My two sons had to have their flu jabs the other day one of my sons screamed before the needle went near him where as the other son asked the nurse after he had the jab when are you going to stab me with the needle,he never felt it.I also had mine and to be honest i never felt mine either.Brave young son now says that his brother is a whimp and is telling everyone he sees in the street.

Last year when my son got his flu vaccine they gave him a nasal spray instead of giving him a shot. He was glad for the break from a shot. He has always been really sensitive about shots.

I read somewhere that if you tense up a lot when getting a shot, it hurts more. When my kids were little they had the greatest pediatrician. He told them that, if they said the magic words, the shot would not hurt. The magic words were "It don't hurt". All of my kids swore it worked.

jugsjugs hi again. its amazing but I never cringed when Ihad my flu shot, but when my hubby was alive he would all but pass out just seeing the needle, and my son was the same way when he was a kid. As an adult I don't think it bothers him anymore. I think the more relaxed you are the better. I had a case of bleeding diverticulitis a few years back and talk about needles they had to check my blood count every four hours round the clock so there were those needles then also I had to have four pints of blood too and that was more sticking so it was good that I am not really scared of needles, oh I do not like it but it does not really scare me at all.

I know how it is when I get my flu shot. My son does not cry but my two girls will cry before the needle even touches their skin. They are terrified of getting shots. So am I! I just don't cry.. The nurse will say, it is going to be a little pinch.. And a pinch it is! It hurts little children. Their bodies are so much more different than ours is.. I hope that your other son will be okay. And his other brother should not call him a whimp because that will only make him feel bad in the end.

He is obviously proud of himself. The other is a brother thing. Boys are competitive and proud. And they want to jibe their siblings for some reason. It all comes out in the wash. Kids are awnry by nature. Unless it is hurtful or horrid I wouldn't bother with it. Most grow out of it.

Both of my children have always been really good about their shots. I remember only when they were very small did they really cry when they got them. I think that a lot of the reason for this is that the nurses that have always given them their shots do it really quick. Plus, I've noticed that there is less likelyhood of having an outburst about their shots if the nurses talk to them while they are getting the shots done as opposed to talking to the parent like the child isn't even there.

Some kid just dont like needles! Just seeing them makes them go off. and the brave son might later in life be the same way about needles and he will then be the whimp. ask him if he would like his brohter to tell things on him that he knows the brave son is afraid of.

I had to laugh at this. When my daughter was 5 years old, they had vaccinations at her school. Lots of kids were crying and carrying on as you could imagine. When it was my daughters turn, she skipped up to the nurse without a care in the world. My step son, was one of the biggest wimps I have ever seen with injections. Even at age 12, when he need a general anasthetic for a small surgical procedure, he carried on like a pork chop and would not let them give him the injection. In the end they had to sedate him so they could give him the needle. The year before that, when he was 11, he cut his foot on glass out the front. The Doctor needed to give him a local anasthetic, via a needle prior to stitches. He also carried on a lot with this, and the Doctor got mad and said he would send him to hospital if he didnt cooperate. Which in fact, was what happened.

My 4 year old grand daughter got her flu shot too and she cried. She said that it hurt and it did swell up so I am sure that it did hurt. My mother got her flu shot and her arm hurt her too. They are the only two out of five family members that have been able to get their flu shots. Happy Mylotting

There are some kids that are not bother by shots and then there are others that just hate them. There are still lots of adults that do not like to get shots so it all depends on the person. How is your one son taking it having his brother tell everyone he is a whimp? I have never like shots and still do not.
